GTF.
For some reason Holden folk don't do the collector thing like Ford folk do. Only L34/A9X buck that trend. Maybe it's because they buy new cars instead.

Right now, on a Ford forum, of course the GTF will win this poll.
Fast forward to 2017, when the last Broadmeadows Ford is 12 months old and the last GTS rolls off the line - and of course, there WILL be a special edition and it will have more than 430kw - and the last man standing will win. With regret, I voted for the GTS.

Bloody hell getting sick of this word 'Win'.
Really ...... if anyone happens to own a GT335, GT-F351, GT315, GT290, F6270, F6315, XR6T, XR6, G6, G6ET ...... or an XT and you're happy ..... YOU HAVE WON! Couldnt give a crap really who 'WON'. It really isn't that important what the bloke has just bought down the road .... faster, slower, whatever. If he drives down the road with a smile on his face .... he is WINING. If you do .... you are WINNING. If he shouts over the fence that his car is 0.4 seconds quicker to 100 than yours ..... he isn't winning, he is a douche. Really .... he is! Over this part and the old 'VS' thread was closed for this very reason. This one is annoyingly close.

I'll say the Rspec due to the more limited numbers and the fact that to date it's still the fastest Australian ford ever built as the GTF hasn't run any better numbers yet. And the W427 in the HSV camp due to its limited numbers. The VF GTS will be outdone by a VF2 GTS just like the VE, E2 and E3 GTS
All though I have been wrong before and probably will be again. |

We'll this poll is quite flawed, as its on a ford forum so you would think the Ford would win hands down. This guy is selling his EL GT for 100,000. So after seeing that I can't recall having seen any holdens of that age going for that price. So perhaps GTF, only time will tell. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used...-747398987.htm

The GT-F will still be collectable as it the last of the GT's. |

I don't think either will be collectable, in the sense of prior classic Fords. So it is more about which is going to depreciate less.
Being a better/newer car the GTS will probably hold it's value slightly better. Although I think both will hold their value very well compared to usual market rates. I actually think the GTF is a bit of a disappointment and missed opportunity, just too similar to what is now an old model available for much less. In saying that I can see why hardcore fans of the badge would still be excited by it being a limited run model. |

Who has an Ls1 account....go post this poll up there....and then we can add the numbers.
But going by a lot of comments here...I think more people have actually voted quite unbiasedly.....as asked to do. Also.....a GT is a GT......but even a series 2 GTS is still just a GTS. And I think this is what the poll is reflecting. But It's just a basic poll don't forget......it can't cover everything! |

Gee hard call to make, almost impossible. With the GTF you have the last and the best model from FPV, limited build numbers and unique badges / stickers. But other than that and a minor tune tweak there isnt much difference between the GTF and previous model FG GT's.
On the other hand if there is no VF2 or ltd ed GTS between now and when the VF is gone you could make the argument that the GTS will be a collectable due to being the best of the locally made aussie performance car etc and for having a vastly different engine / driveline package making it unique to the regular VF HSV's models.

I think eventually they'll both pull decent coin as they are the last of Australian Motoring manufacture.
There is no more after this, as they say "It's last drinks" ![]() |

Neither? Whichever is the absolute last Australian car to roll off the production line may well be most collectible... be it luxo or povo model. If that was a Camry, I would naturally hang my head in shame.

so what does collectable mean ?
Most purchased will be the commy Most purchased and treated like a collectors Item will be the Commy for a few years, until eventually they all get in the hands of daily drivers - then the Falc. Most likely to appreciate to the Falc Most likely to be remembered 20 years from now with a smile (see charger thread) - the Falc |

How is this even a thread? The GT-F is limited edition last model and the GTS is mass produced

In 10 to 20 years’ time the whole heritage of the GT being a race car will be gone. You will find the people who are buying these car, were not even born when the GT was racing and more than likly passed on.
The people who will buy the GTF and VF GTS in 10 to 20 years times will be people looking to buy the car they could not afford when they were young. That is where the price will come into play and HSV will be on top. People who love the GT name for the racing heritage are getting on and dyeing. The next generation love HSVS, not GT's. If FPV was so successful why does HSV outsell FPV. It will be similar in the next few years with the x series GT, when all the people who loved the GT for it racing heritage die off and there is a flood of GT's on the market. I purchased my GT because I love FPV, nothing to do with the GT racing heritage. I have no idea about the racing heritage and I don’t really care for it. |

The thing is the people buying the GTs now are the older guys who actually grew up with them, so in 20-30 years time by the time Gen Y/Gen Z get to the age where they can afford expensive toys from days gone by, GT won't be on the list, because whats a GT?
GT doesn't really have relevance to us born in the 1990s IMO, for us growing up they werent the all winning car to own. I think you'll find the only GT that will have a big $$$ attached to it that a Gen Y/Z will want to chuck around a lot of coin for will be a mint condition GT-R of any variant. I know the Gen Ys I grew up with, most of us are Jap import fanboys, same with my apprentices I taught before I left. |

You'd be wrong big damo, I'm 32 and bought a gtf its not just older guys. I know plenty of younger people who still love the idea of muscle cars and what the gt and gts stand for.

i'd say this would be a massive minority, based on my 22yo old son's thinking and his peers. big v8 engines mean nothing to them and a GT is from Nissan.

I agree with Sensation. I'm 26 and bought one of the last FG MK2 GT's...my mates and I grew up as Ford fans and the GT badge was always something special to us. We all love muscle cars!

My brother in law is 21 and most of his footy club and friends are into v8 muscle.
I'm not going to claim if this is a minority or majority because I just don't know. My point is simply there are some incorrect assumptions being made about people buying these cars. Interestingly the same guys were all into big rice a few year's ago but have grown to prefer muscle. I think perhaps they realise rice is not disappearing, muscle is.
