It's nearest competitor is the 350z....why do we look at the M3...no one will cross shop it with a German unless it's something like a GT350.
350z + a little bit more, they are both aimed at roughly the same people and spread over similar markets. I hope Ford enjoy a good few months with it because the hype will die down the the incentives will flow. They are also not as practical as a falcon so their market is more limited.

If you read the sticker, you can see that the car is in Hawaii, ergo USA.

The 2011 Mustang GT with Coyote 5.0 and live axle outhandled the M3. The 2015 Mustang GT is much more competitive with BMW in terms of interior appointments, and now has IRS. If you care about performance and value for money, you'll cross shop it with German vehicles. If you care mainly about prestige, then you don't care what you pay anyway.

If true, then the fan boys will have their wish and it will remain exclusive and small in numbers on the roads so they can primp and preen and not worry about the horror of seeing several in each car park or see ordinary plebs loading the shopping in one at K-Mart...
...and it will only sell for a couple of years until they drop it for low sales which will keep it exclusive too... Unless they come to their senses and really push what appears to be an excellent deal with the 310hp ecoboost four. Now that sounds interesting in a world where people...the majority of buyers that is...are moving away from V8's and have been for quite a few years now. |

No doubt some will see the value and cme down to Ford, many will not. You could argue a WRX STI has the performance of a RS Audi, pretty rare you have someone come down to the Japanese car. How many C63s where sold in Oz versus the Miami Fords.....you get the point. I recall the M3 comparison, so yes on that track it did equal if not just pip the M3. But how often does the average joe hit the track....and would the M3 owner even converse with the Ford guy...doubt it. No one is knocking the Fords performance and bang for buck, that's what Ford does best..but it ain't no M3.

If it lands close to 75K, I'd say after the initial rush, plan for similar sales and interest as Kuga.

As a serious buyer for a GT (deposit down 10 months ago), I'm a bit worried as I was sold on this package being a mid to high 50s vehical , my budget wont stretch past 60k so I,m left with 3 alternitives
1 Pray our dollar rises against the USD 2 Try to accept the EB model 3 Withdraw my deposit At present option 3 is most likely |

And the M3 no longer offers a V8, either.

2. It’s a massed produced vehicle. 3. Back home it’s considered a car for the people and priced accordingly. 4. And most importantly, so it will actually sell here.

but quick check on BMw.com.au they only offer the 317KW inline 6 in a sedan drive away just over 170K $180K for the M4 coupe with the same engine. so yes they are cheaper by 100K or more even the 4 Cylinder Z4 Roadster is 90K.

As much as the good news on the EB is, and I talk it up to friends, I don't think I could buy one myself, it's V8 GT or nothing. The longer this goes, the more I'm looking at other cars. Today I was on carsales and the vehicles I was cross shopping were - BMW 335i Coupe, 2009 Renault Megane RS 275 Trophe, 2014/15 BMW 135i, Coupe, 2009 WRX Sti, 2014/15 an FGX XR8 if I could get one for 55k Set my search for "sports" and a max of 60k. There's a couple of Focus RS's for 40k, although I like them not sure about it. P.S We are kidding ourselves if we think the Mustang is in competition against the AMG Mercs, and M BMW's. It might be slightly faster on it's day, but the quality of car and it's buyer are leagues apart. If I had the money for a C or even E class AMG, the Mustang wouldn't even get a look in. |

I should have pointed out that this will be my daily, so no outright performance is not the be all and end all for me.
Performance IS a priority, it just doesn't trump everything else at the expense of speed, otherwise I'd just spend the 50-60k on making my dirty old XR8 into track special that I drive on the street, that would probably dust both off with that amount spent on it. However, for the tech and comforts that come with those AMG/M's (not to mention better resale) then yes, I'd take a small performance hit. It's a moot point though, like I said the buyers looking to buy these cars new from the dealer are poles apart, and outright performance wouldn't hold much say, people rarely buy (new) cars in Australia with a mind to spend heaps of time at the track, and as for 'round the streets, the performance is going to be negligible to the point were it would depend on the driver and tyres. Don't get me wrong I reeeeeaaaallllly want a 2015 Mustang, but the longer Ford hold the pricing to there chest, the more I look elsewhere. |
