I can't believe you actually think workers look up to the boss or ceo. That might be the most deluded thing you've ever said, and that takes some doing.

Yeah I would agree with that, considering all email correspondence from my CEO to me goes in the junk folder...

I am a national sales and marketing manager for a large company there are many nice cars in our carpark from Range Rovers, Audi, VW, Subaru etc.. we get an allowance and you buy and drive what you want. For instance I could roll up in my Hyundai Excel 96 model, BA ute or the Loti who gives a toss, more importantly can you do your job? Are you a good employee? You can take a bus if you tick these boxes, I do not care what you drive neither does our CEO. Anyone who bases what a person is like personally or professionally or can do by what they drive should take a long look at them selves in a mirror and will see a flog looking back at them.

Now...would I be as comfortable being in the hands of a surgeon who drives a chipped/go faster 11.99 second HSV with extra big blow off valve?

Pretty sure the guy who owns IKEA drives a clapped out Volvo and lives in a flat. But he's only one of the richest men on the planet so what would he know...

The ceo of the company I used to work for owned a BAII XR8 when I started there in 2005, then he got a BFII XR8, then he bought a FG XR8, then he must have saved his pennies because he bought an FGII G6ET and an FGII GT-P at the same time. I no longer work for them so I'm not sure if he's bought an FGX but I wouldn't be surprised if he has. Used to love it when he came down, he let me take his cars for a drive if we had spare time.

I personally think a well presented and clean vehicle is in order for business purposes. It doesnt have to be the latest and greatest, but it does need to be clean inside and out and well kept. Seeing bird poo all over the car, dirt up the sides, smokey exhaust and maccas papers inside and a greasy steering wheel doesn't do anyone favours if they are there to conduct business. Sure they could be a busy person, but if they are representing a company, they would need to do their best in as many aspects as possible while on the job.

As a business owner myself, I don't base people on the brand of vehicles they drive, but the way they keep them tidy shows me who I could be dealing with before they open their mouth. I still reserve my opinions to myself until I get to know the person, but if they are trying to get my business then of course first impressions last. It's always been the case for decades. But brand is not the key issue here unlike the OP assumptions. I'm talking about care of a vehicle that has been loaned to you by the business that has hired you.

Any business Officer who parks with the riff raff is just a glorified manager. A real CEO doesn't drive themselves unless for fun. The hour commute is a $20,000 opportunity cost
those you want to impress even have their own toilets Hulky, and they are clean, they impress each other with date rape stories and how many staff they fired today in closed divisions!

This +11ty. The best a CEO/boss should aspire to is a healthy respect from those that work for him. That is all.

The ex ceo of Telstra, David Thodey, drove a Toyota corolla... Execs are no different to the rest of us, you either love cars or you don't really care, that passion will dictate the purchase more than their actual job.

Supposedly Chevrolet created the Caprice in 1965(?) because of a GM mandate that executives drive cars from their own divisions. Execs from most of GMs divisions until that point were driving cadillacs. So they didn't have to suffer to much driving their entry-level cars, supposedly the ordered an upmarket upgrade of the Impala to the Caprice .. Heavily optioned ones were at Cadillac price levels.

So .. If your the exec in a car company you just create your own executive-style car .. If you live in the 1960s.

If a company executive wore a cheap suit to work everyone would pick him apart. Same for a cheap watch or scruffy shoes.

A dodgy car in the carpark is a chink in the chain.. unravels the whole show.

There are some unwritten rules i think apply to company executives..

1. A more expensive car than majority of staff. Aligned to salary differences
2. A car not older than a few years.
3. I honestly think fords and hyundai etc is out. Too mainstream.
4. Not a fuel miser. Has to be big in size for a bit of presence

Any other requirements
