All these dual cab utes are crap. Car companies have suckered people into buying over priced basic vehicles built with third world labour. On top of that the top spec models cost thousands more over base models just for a chrome grille and mirrors. I'll be keeping my Falcon ute thanks.

The new camry is the best style/designed camry ever to date. I see them all over the place in Melbourne.

Funny you say that. We bought my wife a VW Golf GTD in 2010. 5 years and 160k later and all we have ever done to it is put a battery in it and 2 sets of tyres. Drives like the day we bought it. Couldn't really care less about the scandal and would buy another in a heartbeat. Great car

I mean, car people, you wouldn't think would really care either because any tuned vehicle is not meeting emissions.

I just ordered a new Wildtrak but if it wasn't for the new model I would have bought an Amarok.

just my 2c from a current owner and buyer.

Not the worst looking car, but I think the i45 and Kia Optima were the originals to give that sculpted look.

Does it annoy you that your car is now worth a lot less than it was 6 months ago? VW resale values have dropped considerably, especially diesels.

This is a Ford Forum, centred on Falcons. What's a resale value?

Not really because as I said we've put 160k on it. I was never expecting amazing resale anyway. I mean we've gotten the value out of the car already.

And again, would the resale really be that much worse off after the scandal? I honestly don't think there would be much in it

just means "most popular"

I had just read that some dealers are already cutting 4k out of the trade in price of Audi's because of the scandal.

Good points - if you're not too worried about environmental issues then why worry about what VW have been upto? Driveability, power, and economy would be far greater concerns and the VW's deliver in these respects, even if they are pumping out outrageous levels of poisonous gas!

I do care about environmental issues, but I'd still buy certain VW models - a Golf GTi would be nice. I'd never touch a diesel but that personal preference isn't due to the scandal.

Dealers slashing trade in values seems to be opportunistic gouging to me, give it a few more months and all will probably be forgotten.

To get the cars to comply with emissions may result in less power and worse economy though.

If a Falcon ute meets your needs then why are you comparing it to a dual cab? They are a different class of vehicle. I could never own a Falcon ute.

The MUX uses the same engine they put into their light trucks, it's also B10 rated to 500,000km.

I too am stunned with our obsession with tarted up Roman Chariots. Manufacturers must laugh everytime someone pays 50g for a twin cab ute.

You should have seen how much they were laughing when people have been buying falcons with no features in them for the last 15 years.

Id take a 50g Falcon over a 50g ute anyday. And judging by the numbers nowhere nesr as many people bought Falcons as bought these utes

Thats cool. I know which one has better resale and is actually worth its money other than an engine, dont get me wrong I love the falcon but it lacks in build quality and so many other areas its not funny.

I'd rather a Falcon ute over a ranger. You can laugh at lack of features the falcon ute has but as a basic work ute it does the job well especially in cab-chassis form and has been doing so since the AU days. Its the same reason I would buy a Hilux over a Ranger. As good of a ute (and it is a ute, not a truck) the Ranger to me has a serious **** factor and its a F series wanna be. I'd could buy a used F250 for the same price keep it a few years and it would still have better resale value then any duel cab ute. A very overpriced and overrated ute if you ask me

Because having more features apparently means a better car. Too bad if your XF has ran as well since the day you brought it 30 years ago. It still a crappy car because the Ranger that died after driving thou 0.2 metres of water has more features....

All these dual cab utes are crap IMO:

You can't fit fat ****s like me in the back comfortably, as a consequence because you can't fit me in the back you can't carry a anything decent in the back either because the tub is too small.

So:

Doesn't fit people in the back well
Can't carry decent load in the back
Rides like a tractor
About as fast as a 1999 WF Festiva 1.3L auto.
Costs $50K+ for one with decent interior

But I need you to keep on buying them because you guys keep my business making profit when you rock up and want dual battery systems and Anderson plugs everywhere.
