I'm still waiting to hear why at was claimed in this thread that dash cam owners probably have an above average crash rate.

Maybe the fact that most Russian's have dash cams has skewed the average. I think 50% of YouTube is Russian dash cam footage of crashes and/or road rage!

You dont need a high quality cam for it to help in a crash. I have a cheapy (relatively, at $50) Gator cam from supercheap, and its already saved me a $400 excess (zip merge, car behind drove into my rear bumper)

Last i heard he was still fighting it in court, but not my problem now as insurance are taking him to court.

Some people have said, that people with dash cams will have a crash, even if they could prevent it, as long as they are not at fault.

This is a myth, no-one who has had to deal with a crashed car would intentionally put themselves in that situation (being without a car for days on end etc)
