yeah get off it. even if you are guilty. if everyone used there right to go to court for parking and speeding tickets they wouldn't raise so much revenue and the quick buck wouldnt be as attractive to them. On a different story my last speeding ticket I got off completely because the idiots put the wrong date on it. Check everything!

Letter? Correspondence by writing is terribly slow.. and the due date for the fine may lapse whilst everyone is drafting letters.

Give them a call (council i assume?) and find out the process for disputing a parking fine issued by mail...

Heck if you werent there, you dont deserve a fine do you? It appears a lot of members here assume guilty until proven otherwise. I note you have not acknowledged any guilt in this thread thus far... Its your right to dispute it.

Evidence via receipts etc is a good idea incase push comes to shove... might pay to start collecting your thoughts and your evidence whilst the beurocratic wheels are turning.

$100 is brutal for a parking fine.

First step is to write a letter to them contesting it and asking to see evidence of the incident. They wont have any of course. Then ask for the documentation... they wont give it to you. Finally, tell them you will see them in court. Keep the letters and the responses. Doubt has been created.

Depends on how they seen your car,
It could have been a lazy council parking attendant that didnt want to get out of his car, or could have been a camera.
In Brisbane, (I dont know if the area in question has cameras or not), there are cameras at city locations that take photos of cars stopping or parking in areas that are not supposed to be stopped or parked in. if this is the case I'd pay it and forget about it, if you are absolutely certain that your car was not there I'd fight it but if you are not sure it is going to be cheaper for you to pay the fine.

Good Luck

even if you are guilty F%&$ em, bloody revenue raising MAGGOTS

: Come on, I dont like paying fines either and have paid many.

But think about it, "IF" he is guilty then he was parked in an area that he should not have been parked in. We all know what the penalty is , We all know if we speed and get caught we get fined, We all know if we do something that is against the law it has consequences.

You see this all the time someone does something that they know is wrong and they get caught, then all of a sudden it is someone elses fault.

It reminds me of when my dad got a letter from the EPA saying his Ford D-series truck had been sighted with a smoky exhaust. The truth was, the engine was nearly dead and it did belch out plenty of smoke. The strange thing was that it had been sighted at Glen Waverly. That truck never left Gippsland (which is around 2.5 hours away from Glen Waverley by car - In that truck, it probably would've taken about 4 hours to get there, but I doubt it would have made the distance anyway). Somebody obviously got their facts wrong.

I recently copped a ticket because after getting to the gf's place at 2am, there was no parks left, so I parked on the grass off the side of the road (there are idiot drivers around and cars on the road had been sideswiped in the past). Moved it about 11 the next morning. I got a ticket 2 weeks later saying i was caught at 10am parking on the strip. I'm tempted to tell thm I was washing the car and didn't want to do it on the concrete driveway. Is that plausable? I'm guessing some tool just drove past and noted my rego for monday morning

Pay it.

I got a $50 fine for parking in an area where your not allowed to park on the street for more then 2 hours (coz of an AFL game). I did not know as there was no signage near my vehicle or anywhere in that partcular street, but i still paid it. I could have went and had a fight with the council but at the end of the day time is money and somethings are just easier done with.

In your case if you have half a day to waste in court along with telling lies then thats your problem, you were obviously doing the wrong thing so cop it on the chin and get on with life.

Whos says I don't give to charity, and not once did I brag about how much I earn. My whole point is that arguing with city councils about parking tickets is like arguing with a brick wall. And I dare say you'd get a better result from the wall.

Cheers.

Yes this is digging up an old thread, but for the fact that I'm now up for a total of $250 for parking in the "wrong" area, I feel I have to vent.

For parking on driver ave in Moore Park (next to fox studios etc) in a marked parking area on a public holiday I scored :

1 - $75 - park after meter expired (the meters were covered up)
2 - $175 - park vehicle on trust land in contravention of blah blah something else.

For god's sake it was on a public holiday on a road that definately wasn't even busy....and if was trust land why the hell were parking spaces there. Stupid geigh parking inspectors.

If I just got stung for the first fine I'd be almost ok with it but to get done TWICE for two different fines is ed....oh and to make it worse they didn't even put the first fine on my car....they mailed it and the first notice i get is the reminder for it. Like thanks.....

This is a little like the Coach driver in Syd that recently got booked for stopping and unloading schoolkids in a Bus zone. The ticket read 'Parking a Coach in a Bus zone" Obviously the parking 'ranger' thinks a coach is not a bus

And for those that were ranting about GRNKPR to "just pay it". Go back and read the thread properly, he states that neither he or his car was there!. Not that he's annoyed that no ticket was left on the car
