As has been said you are hurting the servos not the refiniries...do you know how much a servo operator makes off a litre of fuel..... between 1 and 2 cents.

I took the V8 down to the servo today to beat the rise for the weekend. It normally only goes out on weekends, but that is when the price is higher. Today it went out just to get petrol as this weekend I'll be doing a few Ks. Today I got premium cheaper than unleaded will be on the weekend. I don't know about the rest of the country but brisy prices go up and down at least 10c on the weekly cycle.

I didn't get a choice, it was put some in, or run out of fuel, so I only put $10 worth in.

A couple of days wouldnt affect the companies. All it does is instead of filling up on that particular day you fill up the day before or day after. Either way the companies are still getting their money.

To really shove it up their ****, the public would have to not fill up for months. The longest Ive gone on a tank of petrol is 2 weeks and that was only driving when neccesary so its not goin to happen.

I never really put a full tank in now unless im goin down the coast or its unusually cheap. I put in $40 the other day because I got it for $1.28c/lt but usually ill only put in $25 or $30.

Anyone who doesnt know it yet there is some discount on at Woolies Servos. If you already have the 4c/lt discount coupon and you pay by Visa you get another 4c/lt off.

Those 8c credit cards whats the annual fee ? so do you really save an extra 4c

I still fill my tank everytime, I really cannot be bothered to fill up twice a week, I dont really car about the price, if its good then yippe for me, if it's high then oh well.

I fill up with about $85 of unleaed every week (at current prices) I save 4c witha docket (got with the shopping by default) thats a whole $2.50 odd saved (pointless if you ask me, but keeps the Mrs happy).

I still would have filled up if I needed to yesterday.

Haven't been to a petrol station since Sunday. I've done 500 odd kays since then and I still don't need to fill up. I have two half tanks of fuel.

Me too, couldn't pay me enough to still be doing that job, the amount of abuse and drive-offs they would be copping is incredible.

Agreed- I didnt buy any fuel either and emailed a heap of other people who didn't buy fuel either...I use 2-3 tanks of fuel a week just for work and so do several people whom I emailed. In those alone, about$1500 worth of fuel was purchased on other days and whilst this may be a drop in the ocean, its a good testing ground and maybe if a few other less pessimistic people joined in ,it might help......

I was under the impression that it was the companies such as BP and Caltex who are responsible for the hike in price (not just tax levies) and if you choose to franchise or run one of their stations and claim some of that profit for yourself, whose to blame??
You dont hear this arguement used when tax is put up on tobacco and is it our poor shop owners and service station owners who lose out? I think not.

I think your missing the point here. It’s not the service stations profiteering from the hike in the wholesale bulk refined price. Three of the main factors controlling the wholesale bulk refined price are; the value of the Australian Dollar, the barrel price for West Texan / light sweet crude and most importantly the Singapore bulk refined / terminal gate price. The oil companies didn’t win any friends when they increased the wholesale price after the barrel price dropped a few weeks back, however, they are out to recoup some of their costs and of course, to increase profits.

What do you suggest regarding independent franchise operators, do you think you can just drive your car into a refinery and fill the tank? Also the last time I checked, tobacco wasn’t a commodity that everyone in the community totally relies on to survive.

Cheers, Danny

Actually i did not even know it was on until i read about it here last night. And no you dont want to hurt the servos or the people working in them, but there must be a way to stop the prices going up like an hot air ballon!

these emails are just chain letters. press the delete key after reading subject, that saves you more than not buying fuel on a particular day. beats me why companies allow this kinda junk mail to circulate their email systems. :

I reckon that a no fuel day wouldnt work because of the good ol Aussie institution of "sheel be right mate".Everyone is waiting for someone else to do it. The only guys who dare to do anything then end up in jail or fined because they step out by themselves on the highway of life and get hit.

My credit card is a Coles/Myer one that I am trying to get rid of (don't want ANY credit cards anymore!). Last month they sent me out 8 vouchers so I could save an extra 4cpl at Coles servos (but only if I had an original 4cpl docket thingy).

So I've been filling up the rolla and getting 8cpl off, which means for my Optimax I only pay 2cpl more than regular unleaded... but it only lasts till the end of this month. It's not much of a saving really.

As for this "no fuel day", it's not going to work imho. For example, atm I am barely using the rolla as she is so expensive. I've been walking to drop the kids off at school (and walking back)... good excuse to exercise too.

Also I've been taking the LPG car more and more, organising my day around when the EA is available. I've done 82ks in the rolla in 2 weeks
