Might look good but I prob wouldn't do it.

Too many ppl would think you're being something ur not. If your car had the go to match the look it may be different.

As another example, what would people think about, say, a pursuit 250 bodykit on an AUII xr6 ute (yes, mine for example)?? Would that be something trying to be what it isnt? What about an AU xr8 ute with pursuit250 bodykit??

GT bodykit on an XR6 is 100% rice in my opinion. It's no different to putting a massive spoiler, carbon look bonnet and brand name stickers down the front of your door. Funny how alot of the people who think it's okay to do this are the first to jump up and down when some kid puts STi stickers on his Impreza sports wagon.

Didn't say it was going to be badged a GT just the kit, nothing wrong with that otherwise any kit on any car is 'pure rice', its form over function, as very very few of the kits produce any benifit at all and just add wieght.

Technically the BA XR6 is rice because it's just a kitted XT in that case...

If this is your thinking well then Tickford riced up my Ghia good lol

If i owned a BA XR6 id either keep the kit how it is and take off the rear spoiler, or convert it to Fairmont Ghia style and really freak out some Holden owners. I would love to buy an XR6 N/A in Phantom and convert it to a Ghia front end, keep the XR interior, as well as the sideskirts etc. Obviously you wouldnt be able to badge it as an XR though.

Reece - Pursuit kit on yuor ute would be fine IMHO as there were genuine Pursuit Utes that were 6 cyl (AUII).

What about all the people that have put T-Series bodykits on their cars, I havn't heard anyone say that that is rice, or even AWC's new XR50 front bar, how many people have called that rice so far?

I agree, IF there is a kit that looks as good as the ford one does. Most often, the aftermarket kits look tacky and like they dont fit properly...

I wonder if any of these people who say it's ok to put GT bits on non GT's are the same people who pay out on GT'S?

It's your car, do what you like.

Me, I'm off to buy an XT and put an XR6/8 kit on it.

No harm in putting on the body bit to your car that you want. Just don't go whacking GT badges all over it, I don't agree with putting badging on a car that when it become :jerk:

its not like its not an FPV in a way....its not an XT, its an XR.....its a ford, and it performs....

maybe on previous models (with up specced sixes) but the BA XR6 N/A is an XT with a kit, some rims, and an interior....there is really nothing else to seperate it from an XT, and i dont think ANYONE has EVER called the XR6 N/A Rice...

Whatever floats ya boat really.

I wouldnt agree with the body kit if it included fitting the GT stripes and badges. But you could still tell it isnt a GT from its interior and performance. If someone is going to spend that much cash on a XR6T and molest it to make a GT replica and goes all the way with the interior change and engine mods then it is no different to any of the countless xy-xb replicas running around. Id plates will tell the real story.

Its just a plastic kit i dont think it really matters. If you bought a gt im sure you would have gotten it for more then just its body kit and how many people look at you while driving. FPV stickers would be too far but i surpose your supporting the brand. Though gt badges would look be dumb but at the end of the day its just a dam car.

Yeah but don't forget the suspension and the front end are different and that is a fair difference IMO. Changes the whole look. You can always tell an XR from a povo pack at first glance.

Correct, and also the gearing is different in the manual which makes a fair difference. Its also got a HEAPS better interior...

so as long as it looks different to an XT, yet goes the same, its not rice? lol! firstly, im not a person that would call an XR N/A rice, but im proving a point here....people will call anything that they dont like, "rice"

you basically just proved the theory..you said, it changes the look....so its visual mods that seperate an XT, and and XR6 N/A (suspension and manual aside)

You can't leave that aside though. If it were an option than yes maybe but it comes like that as standard from the factory with the better ratios and sports suspension.

getting an auto completely wipes out the ratios, its only a factor for manual...

and does that mean that people can, what would otherwise be called rice, mod their car, without any performance mods, as long as they have a set of lows, and then its not rice? lol

I bought my BA XR from the factory as it is, there are no non factory non performance mods on mine, so if it is rice, then its rice from the factory... which I think is sort of NOT what rice is about...

And if you get an auto BA XR6... well... no comment..... :

Both manual and auto N/A XR6 have 3.46:1 final drive ratio compared to XT which has 3.23:1 in both manual and auto aswell.

As they say, each to their own. I don't want to get into an argument about what "rice" is. As we all know what one person thinks is rice, another doesn't and so on and so on...

Meh some of you are pathetic...

If you wanna kit your XR6 up with an FPV kit then go do it...

If anyone thinks an XR6 is rice just because its got the same motor as XT then good on you, doesn't mean us who can afford to drive one have to agree. Why would you buy an XT when you can get an XR6 for another 5 grand with some decent luxuries?? It's not always about power, at the end of the day that is really meaningless, power only kills people, if someone wants to have a nice looking car that they can be proud of then good on them, im more concerned about the losers in life who thrash everything and have no respect for anyone elses stuff, they are the people that should be singled out. :

I no longer believe in the word RICE as such, if we all drove the same cars with the same wheels / accessories then we would all be very boring.. Some cars can be overdone but atleast they turn heads even if the comments are negative. :hihi:
