I don't mind my job too much. The pay isn't all that good, it gets bloody hot in summer (I do profile oxy cutting) but my employer is pretty flexible if I need to go early/take a day off, also if any of us employees need a hand money wise they lend it to us no worries and they talk to us like human beings, not like pieces of crap like so many bosses seem to.

Love my job, get paid well, work with a good group of people who are looking after your back and will back you up no matter what, good relationship with the police and emergency services, community loves us because we keep them safe.

Only problem is it gets boring sometimes!

I'm doing Security work, Patrol mainly and although I love being able to chat with random people about a whole array of topics, after about 12pm it gets kinda boring for the rest of the shift, thats why I'm contemplating moving into pubs and clubs work, Guard Dog or Bodyguarding, not quite sure what I'd like to do, but luckily enough I found a company today that offers these for their clients, so lets hope I can get some training and do some more exciting work!

Love my job.
Have 139 staff working under me, and 2 bosses who are busy with the other parts of the company to give me any grief.
Fair bit of travel, live in Hong Kong, heaps of opportunities, great package.

But miss Aus, haven't lived in aussie since 95 and am starting to think I should return.
If I do, I'll get the heck out of what I'm doing and start something new, as I know it won't be the same as here in Asia!!

Miss driving, miss clean beaches, miss weekends off.

Have had crap jobs before but just left them.

Once had a boss walk in and yell at us all "I've just fired ashley, and anyone else who isn't happy can leave right now!" 2 of us just walked straight past him and out the door to the pub down the road!

Nothing worse than not being happy at work, I mean you're there 1/3 of your day.

Mick.

Some of the petty bull s h i t that goes on at my job (large office) is beyond a joke. But I do enjoy the people I work with (some of not all the management have zero care factor) which is not good cause if they where better people managers things would run smoother. Ive been there 5 & 1/2 years salary & super are pretty good. It pays the bills (& you got do something to pay the bills & mortgage) but is not my dream job. Dont know what my dream job is but when I was finishing skool it wanted to be a Pro Sufer but I didnt work out. If good position oppurtunity comes up in the orginisation in a different business line I will apply for it 4sure.

I love my job, just hate the some of people I have to work with or work under. Most of my work collegues are women and so is management. Being a male becomes difficult at times as you get blamed for everything and setup to take the fall. The very situation I'm in at this very point in time. Not the 1st time either. 1st time it was found the accusers were full of it.

I used to work with all men. Couldn't have been a more relaxed workplace anywhere. Damn shame women closed it down :(

I have created and stated a new moto for myself at work now. I come here to work not make friends. It upsets people but I have nothing in common with 40-60yo women.

Not all are bad but when it becomes that time of the month going to work is absolute murder. Most don't even realise how bad they actually are.

Hey,

Well i love my job but hate some of the buggers that walk through the front door.. The money is good the hours are long.. but the bills need to be paid.. plus i get to sit on my butt reading magazines or eating most of the day..

I reckon one day a customer is going to walk in and find out wat the phrase 'going postal' really means..

Cheers,
Nik

I wouldnt say love.. but really like yes..

Im a trainee working for Silcar Communcations, we sub-contract about 90% to Telstra.
Been there for a little month now. It pays well, paying for my course, (most)people are awesome, getting a career out of it and everyday is different.
I'll be in design one day, working in an exchange another, line hauling on one, fibre splicing on another, in a manhole, on the roof of a building in a hut, or in the store/office.. and we get paid to travel all around NSW to these work sites, fuel card, company car, accomodation, plus expenses/meals..
I'm only 21 so I think ive picked up a fairly decent job.

I know what you mean. I work a roster that may be similar to you, 4 days on 4 days off (12 hour days) 5 weeks leave as well. Some people I work with consider sick leave as a form of extended paid annual leave. I always keep as many days sick leave in the "bank" in case I break a leg or something requiring a long period off. I only take days if too sick or contageous (SP?). People that come to work coughing and spluttering spreading germs really annoys me.

Currently I only like my job.

Over the last 6 years I have loved it, hated it, loathed it, then pinched myself at my own good fortune.

At the moment its means to an end. Towards the end of 2006 I have 8 weeks off for a big Europe trip so after I will reconsider my options in 2007.

I have loved and hated a few jobs over the years and found that $$ had nothing to do with it how I felt about it....

Hey Shane - aren't welders in demand right now??? I known truck body builders in Melb reckon that they can't get any hence why simple truck body builds take 6 months.

Hi Shane,

My mum had this so I sort of know what your going thru. She had to have a hysterectomy too. Not a pleasant thing for women to have. I give you credit for doing what you are doing. You've made the right decision in my books. Im sure you'll find another job in due time.
