Rear leg room looks minimal with drivers seat all the way back, can't be too much leg room in the front if the seat needs to go back that far.
Front seats look flat, I wonder if they are like current Focus where you sit on them, not in them like BA/BF?
Rear bumper looks hideous where it run along under the rear quarter then up to the tailight.

it is mate, in the v6 engine bay pic you can see where the battery would go is the fuse box.

I could of sworn i read somewhere that the sheetmetal for the HSV's will change a little from the commy for the first time.

I sat in a couple today - an Omega and a Berlina.

My first impression is that the interior quality is pretty good - the Omega is certainly much better than some recent press has suggested.

The salesman was spewing about how stupid it was that a/c isn't standard in the Omega.

The battery sits behind a panel on the left hand side of the boot - not in the floor. I was surprised to see it was a pretty standard sized battery. I thought they might have out a big Euro sized one in. Boot is shallower than an AU, but al least it's all on one level. Stupid ski-port remains- no 60/40 folding seats.

Those wheel arches are just begging to get scraped in parking mishaps.

There seems to be heaps of rear leg-room, certainly a lot more than in an AU.

Overall a nice car. My main gripe is the rear-end styling - it seems to sit way too high off the ground.

And I can't for the life of me understand why they need two different spec V6s. How much more can the high-powered one cost to make?

Also, puting the 4 speed in the Berlina is just dumb.

After being lucky enough to be able to drive a SS-V on the weekend i think this car will bring alot of buyers back to the large cars. It just seems so refined. I cant compare it to the falcons because the newest falcon i have driven is an AU so it wouldnt be a fair comparison.
They look alot better in person. I couldnt believe it when i got to my friends house only to find her step dad had a SS-V sitting in the garage.

Snapped a few myself the other day. Not the best lighting was bad and battery was dieing.

I think the Omega styling is bland and will date quickly. There's nothing about it that says "look at me". It has a large boot, but then so did the P76. The one billion development cost could have been better spent.

SS looks OK even though the front looks a bit ricey, wheels and tyres look too small.
Omega inside looks a little better than before, but the outside = poo.
What's with the clearance? Is the omega the territory fighter we have heard so much about?

I looked at an SS last week and I thought that they looked far better in the flesh. I'd buy one today with the stripes if I had the cash.

The front looks like an Opel and the back a 380. Has a slight blend of BA through it..... The mix hasn't worked in my opinion and thinking that underneath it is just an overweight Commodore......

I dont mind the look of the new Commodores, but I find them a little bland on the outside. Anyone who reckons the Calias is exciting needs to stop painting the hobby room beige with off-white ceilings.

SS looks good, but I saw it (in person) a few days ago and thought it looked way too high. I dont think the front airdamn/bumper design does its appearance any favours.

It's alright, but (controvesy proof suit on) a 380 looks MUCH nicer on the outside than an Omega/Berlina, even though they're quite similar.

HSV had better have more 'Whooo!' than 'Who?' about it.

it does look daweoo like doesnt it... probably used daewoo designers when they took over the ownership... probably sacked the holden designers and replaced them...

So I just took a break and went to Holden Dealership to have a look. On the way there, I saw a VE with a new A4 and a 380 on either side heading down the road. The VE really looked like a hybrid of the two. When I got to the dealership, I had a good look over a black SS and to be honest, it looks pretty hot. I had a packet of smokes in my pocket and as you do, I stuck them in the front wheel arch and they fitted "side on". The front of the SS seemed incredibly high whilst the back looked a much better height. The bonnet was close to waist high. The front bar will not last long in a carpark when they lower these things.

2 trades will make a lot of $$ out of the VE. 1 type will be a suspension (lowering) guy and the other will be an AWC or similar trying to keep up with the broken bars.

The poverty pack looked pretty clean too, the interior looked a little flat but quite reasonable nonetheless. Ford have quite a challenge ahead, I hope the really take note of where things are headed because I think Holden will sell these things like nothing else.

All in all, I wanted to wait til I saw one before I decided I hated it and I am disapointed to say that all the fuss about the rear bar and small lights etc etc is over nothing. In the flesh, it looks about right.

I like the way how they have made the difference between models obvious visually. I'm just waiting for a bloke who works at Holden to come by work in the SS. If its anything like the SV6, it will be awesome. I asked him about the performance and he said the 6 has plently of balls. Miles ahead of the VZ overall he reckons.

The tail lights on that Berlina seem to be almost unique to it. I looked at a Calais, SS and Omega and they all had the smaller tail lights?? I wonder why the Berlina gets a totally different pair of lights and rear bar?

I think there just trying hard to make the biggest difference to them, I really didn't notice and i was in a Calais but never walked to the rear

Nah i seen the outside about a week ago with a dealer, But we couldn't get in them as they were only just arriving, So when they brought them out into the showrooms i thought I'll go have a sit in them see what the inside feels like.

The SS Seats looked pretty good actually, I couldn't bring myself to sit in it as the whole showroom had seen me pull up in the GT lol.

You should have walked out saying pssshhh whats the big deal here.
I sat in the omega Berlina SV6 Calais the omega was OK, Berlina better, the SV6 had optional leather nice, But the Calais felt great real classy feeling, I was amazed at the different feel from base to high spec, On the other models like VZ-VY i love the VYII Calais but even that has a feel of the base still you can't hide it, But these cars seem to change in feeling and comfort with the more expensive models.
