The "wild" ones are regularly seen hopping down most country streets whereas their city cousins have adapted quite well to the major city streets, roads and freeways particularly in Melbourne and Sydney. Some say they have even seen them waiting at traffic lights and pedestrian stop/walk signs:

I actualy ride a Kangaroo to work instead of driving a car. There cheaper to ride then drive because petrol cost 1.40lt and grass is free for the roo to graze on.....
Oh and for you info.. We don't ride on the back of the roo, we ride in the pouch...

in all seriousness at the peak of the drought it was not uncommon to have roos within rural town centres, the poor buggers were just so thirsty.

Around Wagga depending on the area you live it isn't uncommon to see roos jumping along the road, drought has brought them closer to suburban areas...

Thats mostly on the out skirts of Wagga but, or around willians hill/red hill rd and those areas...

The Governor General's place in Canberra -Yarralumla, is right in the centre of the city and has lot of roos. Also over the years I have seen lots of roos jumping along Canberra streets.

For Americans - Canberra IS the Capital City of Australia.

All this thread show's is how ignorant and arrogant Australian's are, not American's.Think an american is narrow minded? Run a business in a small country village with a constant stream of capital city tourists!

Kangaroo's can and do wander over roads just no where near as much in the big cities. If I could be arsed, I'd drive 100m up to the top of the hill and take some photo's of Roo's and Joey's next to the road for you. They're also all over the sport's grounds and gold club which are both in 'town'.

The bloke asked a genuine question and deserved a genuine answer, not some collection of cocky smartarse quips.
