Maylandsman what does the contract you signed say?
If it says manual and they ordered auto stand your ground. If it says auto and you signed it I think you don't have a strong position.

Ford FALCON 2014.00 SEDAN XR8 . 5.0HP 6A (gTAJ9BA) The A after the 6 signifies that it is an Auto. The only other clue was the price which Mick picked up. I am not going to get nasty with the place, the seller feels like a right stooge. He has offered me dinners and cartons. I said nah, don't drink and **** ups happen. We are going to try and sell it. The car is made with all my details attached to it. So he will either try and pass it on to a walk in or they are going to advertise they have them in the coming weeks. His next allocation is in 3 weeks so if I can pass it on I will order the manual, same price, less the auto cost. I put an ad on Gumtree and have stated here I will let this one go. So fingers crossed. Thanks for your thoughts by the way. |

I'm fairly certain the state govt. put a stop to that as they don't want to miss their slice of the pie. When I pick it up I am taking it straight to Perth so Dad can have a drive so she'll get run in. |

Bummer, looking at my last contract it specifically said manual. Sure looks like you've signed for an auto tho :(

Hi Trendsetters,
An update of sorts; We are trying to secure a black manual from SA and swap the smoke manual over with that dealer. 50/50 chance. Otherwise I am stuck with the automatic. There are only 4 manuals in Australia not accounted for. I am trying to get one of them. Apparently only 59 (manuals) have been made in total so far, either dispatched or ordered. The allocation coming up is already full, in fact demand outstrips supply... Gero Ford has to ring two fellas that ordered the xr8 and tell them they missed out. They would have taken mine. There will only be around 2-3 hundred in the final (March) allocation and you will get these in 2016. And that is it...the dealer says they are sticking to 1200 fg x xr8s and that is it. So for me I can try the March order and in all probability will dip out...apparently (again) rural areas will be last to get an option of having one allocated. As I said above others are interested in my automatic but as the dealer points out (genuinely) I will most likely not get another one and if I did 2016 would be the pick up time. Aint nobody got time for that. Considering how rare the manuals will be, I am spewing, but on the other hand I am glad I've got at all. For the price I did. Dealers I would say will gauge even deeper now. Time will tell. Good luck getting one form here on in punters. |

1st allocation was picked by Ford.
2nd allocation & onwards, customer picks. If you want a manual, order one |

from what I have been led to believe it is not just 'order one', next allocation is full and then march is the next one with a 2016 delivery date and no guarantee you will get allocated one - I'm rural and rural gets last dibs. 1200 only and they are going like hot cakes. If somebody knows or believes otherwise I am happy to listen. I may ring ford customer service again and see if I can get some guarantee from them regarding a future order. I'm told a snowballs chance in hell though. |

I would be interested to know...as I say the next allocation coming up in a fortnight is already full (according to the DP I spoke to today) after he had just spent an hour on the phone getting the low down from supply at Ford HQ. Very few cars remaining...only two more allocations...next allocation is full...won't get one...dah de dah...have to knock back two customers from next allocation...am I being fed horse **** or not? I would be interested to know as I believes he is being genuine. Don't like being bull****ted to. March/April!! I wouldn't hold my breath. And I am not a dealer as someone else mistakenly thought. So if you genuine dealers out there know for sure please spread the love and either confirm with facts/explanation or knock it out of the park with facts/explanations. Not just that is wrong. And not news you got 7 weeks ago. Cheers. |

I think it is proving more fluid than that FG2 and things are changing. remember they got caught with their pants down on production numbers.
I agree they got what they were given initially and agree that there will be allocations. what I am hearing is getting a car from these allocations is going to be hard due to demand. If what my dealer says is right the next allocation (3 weeks?) is full already due to orders coming in thick and fast. what I query is if there is an allocation coming up surely you are entitled to your allocation. unless ford are moving the goal posts this is the part I am most sceptical of. if dealers can't answer these questions then I suppose we sit back and wait to see if there is a hue and cry in coming months about availability. |

So is 28/2 confirmed? I ordered mine in October with an "estimated" delivery 30/1/15. My dealer is saying they still don't know when they're getting their next lot of XR8s and are now saying delivery will hopefully be March. It's one of the bigger Sydney dealers so if they don't know when their next car is coming how are other dealers giving firm delivery dates?

Hi Maylandsman.
According to the Dealer bulletin released to the dealerships, from FoA, at the beginning of September last year (of which I have a copy), the XR8's first allocation (and all other Falcon variants) was made in September with build dates between October 14 and March 15. During that time 282 units will be/were made/released. These are company orders/allocations (to ensure all dealers received stock) with dealerships only able to amend transmission and paint once they found out their allocation from FoA. That is, Ford Aust decided which dealerships would receive what Falcon types ( Falcon, G6E, XR's etc. excluding XR8) based on the dealers 6 month retail history excluding Gov. and rental sales. The XR8 allocation was based on the dealers 6 month retail and small business history. It does say however that FoA estimated the build mix for the first allocation and if dealer adjustments exceeded these estimates then build times would be delayed. Going forward the allocation of XR8's will be remain on a rolling 6 month sales history. All other Falcon variants will revert to "order to delivery". The next allocation of the XR8 will be/is in January for April through to September 2015 production. Cheers, Garry.

Sorry I might not have been very clear in my last post regarding build numbers. The 282 units that I mentioned was for XR8 numbers only (manual and auto), not the entire first allocation/production for the Falcon range in general.
Cheers, Garry.

In all likelihood get it march 1st/2nd after tinting and interior protection applied. e-mail from dealer; 'it is due the 28th of feburary'...'it has already been built, it has a stock number and is on its way' My dealer rang and checked because I asked him to. Dealers do know and can find out. Ring 133673 for customer service...they'll ring the dp whilst you are on the line. see what they can tell you if you are getting no joy from your dealer. They did for me today with my dispute - very helpful. After that the dp was very forthright in telling me what I have written down previously. And if he is right that he has to tell two customers they cannot get one even though they put in an order...things are crook. They do know what is going on and if they don't I'm sure a phone call under the guise of customer service is warranted. so get the answers you deserve. Thanks XBv8 but I have a feeling it is becoming more muddled than what you originally read...particularly seeing they underestimated demand. |
