Iv got blue stripes at home i got off ebay for $35. I was going to get a au te50 body kit and some wheels on my au and put on the stripes. Then probably do up the engine (possibly turbo) and put in a manual. Only problem by the time all thats happened I would of paid for a au2 xr8 manual. The first way is easier but if I save the money I can put it into a xr8.... then i have the problem of finding an xr8. Eh this sucks! Harder to save then it is to spend on your current car.

I see the stripes on heaps of ford's now, don't really care its just a sticker.

i don't think we should be arguing about this. If someone was putting stripes on an xr right in front of me i wouldn't care. I don't particularly like them but i think if people pay the money for the car and they want it to look a certain way then who am i or anyone else to tell them they can't. It doesn't matter who does what to make their ride look a certain way, its a personal opinion and nobody is right or wrong.

Great stuff more Fords are standing out and I bet Ford didn't have a clue they would sell this much vynil.
At the end of the day its all good for FORD whether some think its a GT copy or whatever. Ill bet holden wished they'd thought of it on the monaro instead of the XB copy bonnet. Go the buldge (and the stripes) it still looks better.

I reckon the stripes and bulge stickers look awesome, but only on a good car. XR6, XR8 just doesnt work for. Though I'm still hanging out to see an AU XR with the custom bonnet bulge with optional sticker!

No sir, I dont like it.

Purely for the fact that I see the stripes and go "Beauty.... GT.... let's have a... oh, it's not a GT".

In all honesty - the stripes and stickers look great on all the BAs. Its just a little misleading...

I am too busy smiling to myself and listening to the rumble to worry about what others do to their cars. HSV have suffered this for years, so get over it. I actually noticed a box style early 80's corolla with the exact twin black stripe down the side which had corolla cut out and was obviously factory, so who's copying who??

If it's a Ford it's good. Why fight amongst ourselves???????

I don't mind cosmetic mods (such as stripes) as long as you have the performance to back them up.

Im a Fiesta owner and have BA GT stripes on mine as seen in pic. Yes yes i know what u might think " THATS JUST WRONG". But i love em and its very common in the UK as they have the Fiesta ST model with stripes.

Tho i love all high performance fords, im not trying to be a GT wannabe. I did it because it is different.

But i think on any other car ie ive seen an echo with em it is just wrong.

Leave the GT Stripes to the experts!!! FORD.

I think that stripes ans stickers are fine. Its just when someone goes out of their way to replica a GT or something that it becomes a problem. Dress up your carr all you like, but dont prentend that it is something its not!!

No stripes anywhere. No stickers anywhere. No bonnet bulge anywhere but a BOSS engined car (there was an exception I saw earlier in this thread where someone was doing it for a reason - no problems there). Thats my preference. Other than that, each to their own.

I agree doesn't worry me either way, everyone is entitled to make there car theres and make it unique. The car doesn't have to appeal to anyone else expect the owner, so as long as they are happy. I actually have seen a nice orange XR8 crusing aroung with silver hood decals and its looks really good. The owner is not trying to copy a Pursuit the decal states Boss 260 and I think its a personal touch that looks good.

People seem to miss the point, if they want stripes...go for it i say, but why do they have to be GT stripes, GT's have a lot of history behind them from Bathurst/touring cars in the late 60's and early 70's, GT fans and owners are passionate about them, to put GT stripes on anything but a GT or FPV model which they are an option on takes something away from that, to put GT stripes on any shitbox is trying to make it something it's not.

Ford can keep their crayons and i'm sick of the decals on even the real GT's - they're becoming a fasion statement.

As for the stripes and what not on other cars, same deal.

The bulges on the other hand are good, and i actually think they look better on some Holdens/HSV's (ie, that black Maloo ute with purple flames, hottest ute going around).

When i see XT's and what not with stripes and a bulge it makes me angry, if you can't afford one then bad luck, don't ruin the true cars image - same goes for fake XY/XW 351 GT's.

I dont really like the way that some people rebrand there car into some thing it is not. If people use the stripes and buldge as advertisment space I dont mind that at all. There is an XR8 ute on the northern beaches that does comcreting and has the name of his company cut out of the stripes and the website on the buldge it looks good.

Beautiful replica's are built all the time. I think it's great that people love the old GT's so much that they would spend big $$$'s and hours and hours (sometimes even years) of hard work to keep the "look" of the old GT's alive. If it wasn't for people like that - you'd rarely ever see any of the old cars on the road looking so nice. To see an XYGT (replica or not) on the road is a beautiful thing. It's not ruining the true car's image - it's keeping it alive

And also you gotta keep in mind that it's hard finding an original. And I guess alot of people are building 'replicas' because they simply can't find originals to restore.

And those that have originals never take them out anymore. Of all the GT's on the road that you see, very few would be original, they only come out on the nicest of days. At least with replicas we get to remember what the old girls look like, the real ones are getting too cosy in their climate controlled garages to come out now and this will only get worse (not that I could say that I blame the owners of them)

I personally don't mind it as long as it stays on a Ford. The other day I saw a "fully sick" riced up Lancer with the BA bonnet buldge. The thing nearly took up the whole damn bonnet.

There is a BA XR6 getting around with a GT body kit front and rear spoiler/ bumper, stripes (with GT6 stencilled in) and power bulge.
