My faves:

Corona
Busweiser (Why didn't it make the list)
Extra Dry (The regular one, the platinum turns you off after a while)
Stella

But of course, nothing compares to the good old spirits. But beer definately has its place in summer though.

PALE ALE is the best beer, at home, at the pub, in the morning, at lunch, at night, at the beach, at mates place. Plus, no hangovers, and is a meal replacement...

Just bought me a couple cartons for $32.80 each. PALE ALE all the way!!!!!

La Trappe Blond (and I am not talking about the poofy Australian "blonde" beers)
Leffe
Erdinger
Weihenstephaner
Cascade Amber Ale

Another beer that rivals Lowenbrau is Bitburger. German lagers are good. Australian lagers are comparatively poor quality, and DIRTY.

Pale Ale is a good, basic Australian ale.

However, there are better beers, but you pay a lot more for them.

I am anti the following:

Becks, Stella, Corona (my beer enemy), Heineken, and the other "imported" beers.

All those beers are brewed here (except Corona -even Australian beer isn't THAT bad) under license.

You're paying for VB in a fancy bottle.

Try German lager. It's cleaner.

Or try European ales...robust ;)

Hoegaarden used to be a really good value beer at 3 bucks a bottle. Now that they're four, it's not worth it.

Erdinger produces a similar beer which is 5 bucks for 500ml, compared to 4 bucks for 330mls.

Hoegaarden also have Grand Cru, which is about 5.50 a bottle for 330ml, but I've yet to have that one.

Corona's for me = Beer flavoured soft drink.

For less, I get Cascade Amber Ale. Good cheap drop.

Being an Adelaide boy originally, I grew up on Coopers Pale Ale. Still the best beer I've found.

XXXX Gold or Carlton Mid. For some reason, heavy beers give me a cracker of a headache after the third one. #1 will always be Bundy.

Your "heavy beers" being a whopping 4.5% (or whatever they are) isn't as heavy as a nice 8%'er foreign beer. Great in winter.

In winter, a good cheap stout is Abbotsford Invalid Stout. Invalid, because after a few, you'll feel like one.

Coopers Stout is also good.

I think Guinness is overrated. Just my opinion.

Pale ale is a fantastic breakfast beer as well as any other time as you suggest. Where do you pay $32.80 for it though. It costs me $40 at discount.

All that spare brewers yeast must probably like taking a vitB supplement with every turn of the wrist, and I am yet to find a beer at any price the equal of Coopers pale ale.
