Is that the one owned by Hulk? It's the only one produced to do the 0-100kms in 5 seconds without a hairdryer on it.

Wasn't the FG Falcon ready to be built for left hand drive or was some other factor such as development costs impede its progress?

A similar example example from a UK car magazine on the Skyline:

In 1997 an inspired Nissan management decision gave 35 year old Hiroshi Tamura product planning responsibility for the R34 Skyline, his dream job.

While he was impressed by the then (R35) GT-R concept car it meant it would be the end of the road for the straight six engine layout that has been a part of the Skyline mystique since the 1960s.

"We cannot use the straight six engine, because it's too costly to build a left-hand-drive car with that engine; the air intake is on that side of the car, and we can't change it without doubling costs."

Cannot praise the team at ford for putting through the barra turbo 6 cylinder engine. It is such an amazing piece of machinery. I put it as one of the quickest factory 6 cylinders, with a stock car and a tune the potential is amazing.

I wonder where this engine would have ended up in the next few years if they weren't closing down. Would they have adopted direct injection and Ecoboost tech. Would the engine face the end of the road and the V6 Ecoboost become the replacement engine. I wonder how much more development was left and how far the could have pushed the fuel economy and power levels. Let's face it they still had Forged conrods and forged Pistons they could have used or similar to the Miami Boss355 engine.

My guess is the falcon 6 had a lot more potential in it, the one black mark against its further development imo is it's physical dimensions, a V6 by comparison is 3 cylinder's shorter in length , it would have made more compact coachwork at the very least more of a challenge if not more expensive.

It was trialled with direct injection. It would have been used at some point down the track. Sad it won't now.

You mean how it would be right now! Those descission were made along time ago and that put a halt to advancement of the falcon along time ago. Considering what we know ford can do locally and globally......I actually hate to imagine how good the falcon six and the car as a whole would be if development hadn't been slowed to near zero!
