I went in today to have a look. They opened the foreshore to traffic at about 1.15pm.
It was an awesome sight to see it so close to shore and the tide was fairly high so I dont think its going anywhere in a hurry.

Definately weird driving around seeing all the cars and carnage. For anyone that knows the area, the Coles at The Junction has a car park underneath and the cars that where left in there where either floating or you could see the top 1-2 foot of. Mate I work with had a bit over a foot flowing through his place, and he had to abandon his car in waist deep water and wade home.

Gosh this is a sad state of affairs for the folk at Newcastle. My wife and I visit Newcastle ( she has family in Taree & Forster) regularly looking for a home to move to from Adelaide. I'm now thinking the Gold Coast may be a better option! At least your not on water restrictions!
