I'll be watching the next episode for sure.

But yeah I agree with most people with that guy with the longer hair. Trying a little too hard. Needs to relax a bit.

Certainly hope this gets better with every episode.

It seems that they all seem to be competing with each other to see who can get the most dialogue in on camera.

Didn't mind it. They did try a little to hard though. The shorts for next weeks show looks like a cracker.

Overall a good pilot, the mix of personalities compliment the format, quite entertaining especially the RAV4 airborne !

Next week will be good, FPV vs HSV !

Did anyone notice....and I'm not 100% sure....but the RAV in the 2nd part of the challenge was a different car?? Had no front end damage...in the 1st part it had copped quite a bit.

I really enjoyed that episode. To start off with i was very unsure on how they would go about making the show different, yet similar to the original.

When it fist started and i saw the set was basically the same, they had an elderly gentleman, a small joker, and a funny looking middle man. I thought it was going to be a lame attemp at copying the pommy version. Once they got into it a bit it slowly show some difference but it had a lot in common with the original.

In the end i started to really get involved and enjoy the show for what it was, nothing more nothing less.

The "soft roader" part was rather interesting as it showed some AUssie conditions with cars that are in my reach and can actually see or own.

I am really looking forward too next weeks holden vs ford. Should be a fantastic show. Looks as though they give the F6 a really hard time!

I was a little judgmental at frist, but now i think im a fan

Well it may not be the UK Top Gear, but its the best bloody thing we've come out with, look at "the car show" and the likes. I mean in reality, if we compare this to other Aussie Car shows, it cr@ps all over them, i think we are all die hards and used to the UK version and will bag the obvious "copying" of the UK version.

I think we will come to enjoy it, I am not sure the Ford vs Holden battle will go our way. but will be interesting all the same.

All in all, its good to see a "decent" car show being made (or reproduced) over here

Look back at the early UK top gear episodes. They were clunky too. I thought the Aus top gear was a good start. The little gave me the irrates though.

Default Top Gear ? Not Overdrive

: Hi. I must admit I am a Big Bit undecided. It will have to improve somewhat. I know the British one has been going for a long time but the first time I saw it I didn't want to not miss the next week. I won't be home next Monday night and at this stage I am wondering if I will get it taped. What did the rest of you fellows think ? Glen. :monkes: :

Not as bad as I thought it would be give the guys a couple of weeks to get used to each other and see how they go and yes the camera men need to lift their game a bit. For those people that are right down on it go and watch the first Top gear UK episode it was just as bad. Of course it's going to be like Top Gear UK thats why it is called Top Gear.

I'll give it 4-5 weeks, to see if they settle into the show, I like Warren, Charlie Cox is O.k but Steve Pizzati gives me the irrits. But as I said, give them time to settle in, anyone remember the early Top Gear's with the fat bloke? presenters can be replaced...

I REALLY want this to work, I hope it does.

DAMN took me 8 posts to type that!!

Well, that was a disappointment.
Will watch it next week for the Ford v Holden battle. That should pull a crowd for them ....... even if it is only for one show.
Personally, I think it will be a flop. How I'm wrong as fingers are crossed that it improves.
A Moke with shark mess security swimming with Giant White sharks! Thought I was watching a documentary for a second. That was a load of absolute bollocks that bit was. Geezzz!

Cheers

Well, I thought the 1st episode was a little disappointing. Was hoping for something a little more original, but got the impression that it was just a poor substitute of the British version. Those guys are no Clarkson.
Reasonably good stories, but if they had tried to be more original, it would have come over better. A Mini Moke as a shark proof cage? What was the idea of that? May as well dangled a bucket in the water. I hope these guys can be more original with next week's stories.

i think they need to find their feet and come out of their shells, look at the first eps of topgear uk it was pretty lame to what it is now...

the track was boring, there wasnt anywhere in it that really tested the cars abilities, like hammerhead for under/over steer, and the commentary was dead

at least they didnt baby those softroaders flogging them over the sand dunes.... you dont do that in your own car

its not lose your sleep over it for the next episode but ill watch the next, Ford vs holden .... i still wanna see some carnage

and for those that complained about the set, its TOPGEAR its pretty much a franchise now, you dont expect Mcdonalds to be different everywhere you go, they did a good job actually and at least they didnt copy the "cool wall" with "what were they thinking"

If you had never seen the British version, then this would have been good viewing. However this was too much a pure copy and showed no originality. I think the only difference that will ever be between the 2 versions is in the Australian version will have Australian cars.

Fantasic!

If you compare it to the pilot version of Top Gear UK, this one is heaps better.

Great story of the cars on dunes... the only sand they drove on in the UK was flat, and they did a few drag races and bogged a Monaro to it's diff.

I think they do TRY a bit to hard with the way they talk and the extreeeemly poorly written jokes... they just need to act a bit more natural... I think thats what makes the UK version so good.

It would have been great to see the Ford V Holden in the pilot, however, because it is in the second episode, it will make people come back again, even if they didn't like the first episode.
The background music needs to a bit better, and the camera work was good, but still needs to be better... more iconic shots, etc...., not just filimg a moving car... although, it's still way better then most Ford ads.
