I think that this would have to be one of the best posts in this thread so far ( no offence to the guys that backthe decision )

I have had the fortune of having numerouse meals with Allan Moffat and I know where you are coming from with saying that he is quiet, humble and a legend.

He is the type of person that anyone would be happy to spend time with as well as he is to spend time with you way

I found that if a person in the group you are in become's a bit af a smartybum he wouldn't talk as much

I hope that this position does well for both FPV , ford and mr Moffat for the long term

None of the current crop are viewed as "legends" or "icons" of the sport either, as they're still participating.. None of them represent a figure potential buyers look upto or hold with esteme...

In this case "Legend" or "Icon" status comes from a long history of success for a brand... Moff ticks all the boxes....
Holy Crap Batman, For once 4Vman I 100% agree.

Truly how many under 30's are likely to splash $60k+ on a new FPV. The answer is few if any.
Allan Moffat is a legend, and has earned respect. Try doing Bathurst in a HO with old no grip tyres, no brakes, bugger all safety equipment and no co driver.

He is also a gentleman and will spend time with club racers and enthusiasts in exactly the way that todays overpaid popstars won't.

I think this is a good thing and will appeal to the market that has the ability to buy new FPV's.

Im guessing he was referring to the coyote being the only choice of engine at FPV, ie: no I6T. Since it was in response to your question "Is there any other motor?"

None of us are privy to why Allan has been given this honour. So why don't we all stop the childish bickering and wait and see.
I for one am pleased that Allan is finally being given real recognition for all his years of dedication to the Blue Oval and motorsport.

what most people need to realise is 90% of people on the street wouldnt even know who allan moffat is.yes we all know who he is but we all watch v8 super cars and we know ford history.lets not slide away from the fact that most people have never heard of him.ok toyota is the biggest seller and ford is a dismal way behind, not that i think ford shouldnt premote its new product but i think they should have gone a different way.the ford falcon is in trouble and i think they need a mordern fresh way to promote it as most people i talk to dont give a rats asssss about ford at all they just want a cheap car to run.
the new gtho if they make it will sell but it wont change the majorty of people, yes the soft corks that buy new toyotas is our major threat.
moffat is a legand but that was 40 years ago ffs,i just hope they do make a short run of new gtho's because it maybe the last horah for the falcon, shame but lets live in 2010 not 1970.

But mainstream Ford is NOT FPV.... we're talking FPV, not Ford..... 99% of people would never dream of buying a FPV vehicle... Why do you think FPV dont bother advertising on commercial TV? Because the 2-3000 sales per year just doesnt justify the marketing spend to advertise to people it will never attract anyway.

FPV/HSV sell in a niche market... Moffat (like Brock) is at least a household name if not an Icon and Legend to ALL true motorsport/performance vehicle enthusiasts in that market place.....

Spot on as usual! I can't believe this is so hard for people to work out..... Moffat is not a 'FORD' ambassador, he is an 'FPV' ambassador. They are a diff business and they market to different groups of buyers. There is a reason the rumours abound that Ford will drop the V8 and leave it to FPV in order to pursue a more 'mainstream', 'techy' image. FPV does not currentl or will ever offer cars like a Fiesta Econetic now will they???

For the FPV market i think Moffat is a great ambassador and it will tie in nicely with his son potentially being an FPR driver in years to come....

The sales figures would suggest otherwise.... 85% of FPV/HSV combined sales are V8's.... Both brands have held strong despite the stagnant market.

Motors are electrical devices.

Poor old Coyote has a lot to live up to.

Although it it has a larger capacity than the T6 it is still supercharged not turbocharged which means for it to produce max torque from a very low RPM it has to be geared fairly high which means higher losses are higher RPM.

The ZF has a 600Nm max limiting demonstrated torque so if the area under the T6 curve is greater than the area under the Coyote curve then despite all the stripes and bulges there may be tears.

Dyno charts and theory have quite often not reflected real world track performance. (Does anyone remember 290KW BA GT vs 260KW Clubsport)

I am sure the various mags will have a squillion stories lined up and which ever team loses will have a squllion excuses.

As far as I am aware there has never been a supercharged BOSS go quicker than a T6 as I am sure if there was the AFF server would need another 10TB to hold the threads crowing about it.

Still, it is not long now and whatever the outcome FPV buyers will be the winners......
