But based on that, Are there any problems with running two different brands of calipars front and rear?
How much saving is there in going for 2spot PBR vs 4spot Brembos?

I'd imagine there would be some cost savings, but are they physically smaller? I'm looking at rims currently, and some 19/20x10" rims are listed as not compatible with brembos, so wondered whether PBRs would be better in that sense.

Thanks
Option 4.
6 piston Brembo with 355mm front and 4 piston 330mm rear $4500 with DBA 4000 slotted or xdrilled rotors.
Yes the FG kit is still correct. The 6/4 combo is fine as a combo for street driven cars and you must be thinking of the PBR single piston rear kit as there is no twin piston rear set up available. The 6/1 combo is popular on the FG utes and can be used for a sedan as well and performs well. This combo of Bremb/PBR is not an issue and Ford release this same kit on alot of there models including the ute.
If the wheels do not clear the brembo's we can supply a Twin piston front caliper with 355mm front rotors matched to a rear 1 piston caliper with 328mm rotors that should fit behind the wheels for around $3200.
The 6/4 combo is close to 70 kgs when boxed

Are there any pics of the Plain rotors?

What are they? Plain Brembo, DBA or RDA rotors? (I did a quick read through but didn't see any answers to that one. Excuse me if I missed it.)

The 6 piston ford kit uses a plain non slotted brembo rotor or if wanting the slotted version it is also a brembo rotor. There are options to upgrade to DBA T3 Slotted discs. I do not have a picture of the brembo unslotted rotor thanks.

Hi, i rang you guys a little while back about an upgrade on a eb, was looking at twin piston or ap front upgrade. anyway with the prices of the 6 piston brembos you are doing i'm wondering if you can modify the eb uprights to run this setup, obviously with different rotors but can you make it work? with a 355mm or something size rotor? . i would think you would have a market just from this site. i would be really keen on this and i bet others would be to. so what do you think? decent brakes for e series . cheers, preston.

Preston your right it is something that others are interested in but the kit can't be done because of the caliper fouling on the upright due to the massive size of the caliper.

Ok thanks for that. bloody shame though, it would be nice to have an awesome set of brakes on a eb. any idea what they used on the e series v8 super cars? i thought they used 380mm and 6 to 8 piston.

I don't know but they may of used a different upright like the EL GT had which made it easier to make a brake kit.

Shane when fitting the kit to a TTG you will have to grind part of the upright away for the caliper to clear when mounted but don't panic as we have found by looking at the F6X that this is also done on that model.
The front kit will cost you $2750 with the added extra DBA T3 rotors and braided front lines or $2150 for std brake lines and slotted brembo rotors.

If anyone needs advice on this fitment just shoot me a PM.

Matt and myself worked this out a while ago and it is nothing major to do

How much for 6/4 kit with slotted rotors for a FG ute. And have you heard of kick back with the utes when fitting 4 pots on the rear?

The full 6/4 combo uses the new DBA T3 rotors all round with braided lines for $4500. The utes have had issues with pad knock off which is why rear brembo's are generally not fitted BUT we fitted them to a few FG utes when they first came out and those customers have not complained about any issues as they are not tracked or over loaded. The cause of the problem was the bearings would wear over a period of time but some people would then either replace the bearings or shim them up to reduce the movement.
We also offer the 6 piston Brembo front upgrade with the larger PBR single piston 328mm vented rear disc (powder coated red) from $3500 using the brembo front slotted discs and the pbr rear slotted disc.

Generally between $180 to $220 as there is about 60kg+ there and if you want insurance as well.

Can you explain this pad knock off on the utes. i remember ford had troubles with the brembos on the rear of the utes, but i'd like to run the 4 pots on the rear.

Basically the rear wheel bearings start to wear and you get a bit of float in the rear end so when a rigid mount 4 piston caliper is fitted to the rear of the utes the problem arises.
When you turn a corner the wear in the bearings causes sideways movement which inturn pushes the disc onto the pads that pushes the pistons back into the caliper and the brake pedal goes to the floor. The reason why it doesn't happen on a single piston caliper is that they have slides either side of the caliper which compensates for any movement.
This doesn't happen in all utes as some are not driven as hard as others or overloaded so the problem make take some time to come through and you can always replace the bearings or shim them up to reduce sideways movemen.Another option that has been used is the housing is machined out and the larger size rear wheel bearings are used to reduce wear and tear.

You would have to be driving pretty hard to wear the wheel bearings out that much in less than 50k? Replacing wheel bearings wouldn't be that much of a costly exercise would it?

I couldn't put a km rating on it to be honest.
