My Mum had been overseas and despite me saying I didn't have anything in mind for her to get me, she got me some aftershave - I'll just add it to the other bottles I don't use. It's decent stuff - just not something I use much. Asked for and got a large casserole dish - that came in close to our family Kris Kringle limit of $50. The Nvidia 7800GT graphics card I want is a tad over the limit at $550.

Had the joy of watching my Dad become less bearable and less intelligible as he drank more - to the point where myself and my sister's friend who were erecting the trampoline for my 2 nephews - were relieved when he buggered off and left us to get on with it. We progressed faster after that.

I got a Ford V8 door bell and a Kinchrome socket set a pen magnet and mirror. Also got the Need For Speed Most Wanted Black Edition game and Seinfeld series 5 and 6 on DVD. Got a shirt as well.

Rather lucrative this year I though.

ROFL, The company that I work for got me one of those massage thingys, along with some not so subtle comments about the need for relaxation and stress minimisation! Although I think I'm now banned from karaoke at future parties :hihi: That was last weekend, this weekend has been a time for family and best mates. I can sympathise with those who have recieved a hangover, I'm expecting the mother of all morning afters in around seven hours.

Although I haven't copped an incredible volume of gifts, the sentiment behind each one has been enough to bring me to tears at times.

My father bought me a set of digital vernier calipers, might not seem too special, a father buying tools for his son, but from him (an engineer) to me (an engineer in training) and considering the way we argue at times, it really was a truly special moment.

My mother has bought me clothes, as on the (not so rare as they should be) occasions that she does a load of washing for me, she is constantly mortified by the fact that at least 90% of my T-shirts have tears in the sleaves and/or grease stains all over them. I like em that way, but she worries for some strange reason ya know? Irritating, but touching nonetheless.

I dunno what my sister has gotten me, or if she has even had time to get me a gift, but her presence at this time of year is enough of a present (meeting up on boxing day). Not that I'd ever let her know, but I really do miss her, if she ever finds out, I'm in some trouble!

As for the rest of the clan/buddies, it's just soooo good to be able to chill, play some pool, listen to crap music and just talk absolute crapola whilst consuming enourmous amounts of food/alcohol. Knowing that everyone is in the same frame of mind, almost makes the commercialised buildup to the event worth it.

Unfortunately some people don't deal so well with this time of year, : This arvo we're sitting out on the porch sippin away, when the local highway patrol exit town over the bridge opposite, hitting third gear at full noise in an SS (make your own judgement as to what speed that would be), blues and twos blazin, followed a few minutes later by an ambulance. Seeing as all present were RFS personnel we kicked up the volume on the PMR set, expecting a callout for a motor vehicle accident any time soon. It never came, the local scanner buff told us later it was an attempted suicide. :-( so while y'all are enjoying the company of freinds and family, please spare a thought for those out there who are feeling very alone and depressed at this time.

Sorry to lower the mood, I'm just having a bit of a struggle dealing with the thought of someone feeling so low, while I'm feeling so good. Enjoy the season y'all, and give thanks to whatever higher power you believe in for the blessings that you have.

Love and Peace to everyone,
Neil.

Hmmm, since 99% of my pressies are sitting next to me lets see...

*An old coathanger (from my penny-pinching grandmother)
*A Body Shop bath gift set (in Lime and Frangipani)
*A book by the author of The Da Vinci Code
*Another body wash set (I wonder if there is a hidden message there?)
*A miniature leather bag with chocolates in it
*A miniature book about what a wonderful daughter I am (SO true)
*A miniature bottle of Midori, with an over-sized shot glass
*Placebo live concert on DVD
*A couple of CDs
*Steering wheel and pedals for my PS2 (Dad wanted them more that me as he can't use the controls to steer the cars, on the odd occasion that he "races" me)
*The 2005 Swarovski Christmas Star (my third one, plus I have a few other pieces)
*Earrings and a necklace

And then I had the pleasure of wiping the floor with everyone who dared challenge me at pool all night.

My grandmother is well known for doing things like that.

She gave my mother an old peticoat of hers, and she gave my dad (her son) some of his old school books and a 50 year old map she had sitting around.

She once gave my mother's father a pair of pyjamas that had belonged to my dad, that were a gift from his aunt for his 21st. She unpicked the pocket on it that had my father's initials monogramed on it, but didn't take the card out that was written out to my dad. They'd gone yellow from age and neglect.

And for my 18th she gave me "pearls".
She made a huge deal about saying they were miki moto, and they came in a black velvet box (which I wasn't allowed to keep), but as soon as you looked at them you could see they were plastic beads.
Sick of her doing the same thing to us constantly, my mum told her she must been confused and given me the wrong ones, as they were fake, so she tried 3 more times to give me pearls, and they were all plastic beads.

This year we decided that if she was going to treat us like that, then we'd do the same to her. We found stuff lying around the house that was pretty cheap and gave her that. I bought her a $2.98 box of butter cookies, but we forgot to give her the other box of them mum had won. We don't care.

She HAS money. Plenty of it. But she's too tight to spend anything. She won't even run her fridge in winter, because she only has $10 worth of food a week.
Dad is her only child, I'm her only grandchild, and she treats us like that!!

Plus she was downright rude to a guest we had over yesterday. She was telling him off about him being overweight.
He's been a quadriplegic for 47 years.
What does she want him to do? Get up and go for a run around the block?
When everyone tried to explain why he's so big, she wouldn't hear it, and told him it was all in his mind, and he could change it if he wanted to.

Anyway, sorry for going OT, she just really p*sses me off.

You would think santa giving out all these nice rides he could afford to buy himself a new ride. A BA Mark II GT would get the old tiger round a lil faster and in much more style

Nothing.........didn't give and didn't get!...I don't believe in this made up c r a p,
WHY!!!!
1. God doesn't exist, (no proof!)
2. X'mas is ment to be about the "birth" of crist and the "joy" and "peace" to all man kind!, (no proof that he existed either!)
3. People should would know this and realise it's not about getting your self into dept for that "special" gift,
4. Santa is made up, why isn't the X'mas spirit a baby??? Not some fat gut in a red suit? After all it is the birthday of Christ!!!,
5. It's all a BIG con to get people to spend money they don't have, and take 6 months to pay it off,
6. Having to see your relo's that you really don't like
There is a lot more that I hate about X'mas but who gives a poop!
