That crossed my mind. Even finding a deleted file could of been a coincidence. If he went to all this trouble to hide the plane, surely he`d know how to make files on his Flight Simulator permanently disappear. But then again I pretty much blamed him from the start.

Seems there "talk" from an aviation commentator of putting a third crew member in the cockpit after the MH370 incident and recent Air New Zealand flight NZ176......

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/ar...ectid=11288373

Quote:
Two Air New Zealand pilots were stood down and their cabin crew offered counselling after a frightening mid-air incident on a packed transtasman flight.

The drama unfolded on flight NZ176 between Perth and Auckland on May 21, when the first officer was locked out of the cockpit for two minutes.

The captain did not respond to requests to open the locked door, alarming crew. The pair had apparently fallen out over a take-off delay.

One expert says two minutes is "an eternity" on a flight — and the incident, on a Boeing 777-200 carrying 303 people, has sparked calls for a third crew member to be added to flight decks so no one is ever alone in the cockpit.

Air NZ spokeswoman Marie Hosking said the first officer and crew became concerned after the captain did not respond to three requests over two minutes from a cabin crew member to open the cockpit door.

The first officer eventually used an alternative method to access the cockpit.

For security reasons, the airline would not say how.

"Naturally, cabin crew operating the flight were concerned about the inability to contact the captain and became quite anxious," said the national carrier's operational integrity and safety manager Errol Burtenshaw.

They were offered the support of the company's employee assistance programme after the flight.

Both pilots were stood down — the captain for two weeks and the first officer for a week, and given counselling and additional training.

There was "some tension" between the pilots after a 13-minute delay to the flight's departure after the first officer had to take part in a random drug and alcohol test.

"This departure delay frustrated the captain who prides himself on operational efficiency."

Safety and security were paramount and the incident was "unfortunate", Burtenshaw said.

"Both pilots have learned a valuable lesson around the need to communicate better with peers."

He said the captain did not respond or open the door because he was approaching a navigational waypoint and in his cockpit monitor saw a cabin crew member rather than the first officer ringing.

The airline provided a report on the incident to the Civil Aviation Authority. Spokesman Mike Richards said it was satisfied with Air NZ's actions.

But aviation commentator Peter Clark said the incident showed it was time all airlines put a third crew member in the cockpit. "After [the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight] MH370 there's definitely questions being asked about whether there should be more than two people on the flight deck."

The Beijing-bound Boeing 777 and its 239 passengers and crew vanished after the plane left Kuala Lumpur on March 8. A Malaysian investigation last month identified the captain as the chief suspect, if human intervention was to blame.

Clark said there was no excuse for the Air NZ captain to not immediately respond to calls, given the MH370 mystery and the fate of other flights, including an Ethiopian Airlines flight hijacked by its asylum-seeking co-pilot this year.

"You can push a button and say 'I'm busy' ... two minutes is an eternity when people reflect on MH370. The transponder can be turned off, the flight co-ordinates changed, the plane depressurised.

"It shouldn't have happened."

- Herald on Sunday

MH370: $37,000 withdrawn from victims' accounts after plane went missing

Four Malaysian MH370 victims have had more than $37,000 withdrawn from their accounts, leaving their grieving families baffled.

City Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Assistant Commander Izany Abdul confirmed the cash machine withdrawals took place in July, four months after the doomed Boeing-777 disappeared without a trace.

"We are investigating the case as unauthorised access with intent to commit an offence," he said.

A bank believed to be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian noticed the unusual activity on July 18 and later lodged an official complaint with police on August 2.

The offence face fines of up to $55,000 and imprisonment for up to 10 years under Malaysian law.

Mr Izany said he had not yet ruled out an insider job at the bank and police were "investigating all the angles".

"We are getting CCTV footage from the bank to identify the suspects involved," he said.

"Anyone with information should report it to the nearest police station."

Mystery still shrouds MH370 some five months after it went missing on March 8 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Australia has been leading the hunt for the plane which is believed to have ended somewhere in the south Indian Ocean based on satellite data provided by British company Inmarsat.

The doomed flight was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members, including six Australians.

Last week Malaysian Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said he would meet with Prime Minister Tony Abbott to sign a "memorandum of understanding" on the two countries' collaboration on the search.

Liow also gave his commitment that the search for MH370 would continue despite the recent tragedy of MH17, which was shot down by a Buk missile over Ukraine.
http://www.9news.com.au/world/2014/08/15/06/28/mh370-$37-000-withdrawn-from-accounts-four-months-after-plane-went-missing

Inside job or family member me thinks.... you would hope with all the electronic technology associated with banking that these funds will be traced and the scumbags taken care of...

Still not a trace of the plane after how many months???

The current search should have commenced by now, but at this stage it's only a search and not recovery (if they find anything).

I am still finding it hard to fathom this jet just vanished, not even so much as a bit of plane or luggage or bodies anywhere. Maybe they are making a reality series of LOST and all.will be revealed when filming ends.

The task of finding the plane is determined on how big the bits of it are.
If it's hit by a SAM at 35000 feet then the bits are very small.
Especially after slamming into the ground.

Bank employee took the money it seems.
Quote:
Victims of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 were again victimised through fraudulent bank transactions on their accounts amounting to RM110,643 (approximately $37000AUD). The police have already identified the suspect.

REUTERS/Jason Lee

The suspect was able to withdraw the money from the accounts of MH370 victims - two Chinese nationals Ju Kun and Tian Jun Wei, and two Malaysians, Hue Pui Heng and Tan Size Hian.

Police investigations found that the suspect had first acquired money from the bank accounts of the three victims and then transferred them to the bank account of the fourth victim. These were all conducted through internet banking.

"We believe this is an inside job involving a bank employee," Inspector- General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said in a press conference in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

The fraudulent bank transactions were identified on July 18 when a bank officer of an international bank, believed to be HSBC, discovered malicious transactions from the four victims' accounts.

In the course of the investigation for the first four bank accounts, a fifth suspicious account appears, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa said.

"The initial police investigation found that from the RM110,643, a sum of RM35,000 was transferred into the fifth account through Internet banking. The fifth bank account is registered in the name of an unknown individual," Md Isa said.

The police chief said that investigations are still on-going for the fifth account.

So far, there had been no indications that an international syndicate was behind the case, Dang Wangi district police chief, ACP Zainuddin Ahmad said.

"Everything is still under investigation and so far only the bank has lodged a police report on the case," he said.

HSBC media relations manager, Joanna Fargus, said that it was improper for the bank to air its side as police were still in the middle of investigation.

"We take the safety and security of customer information seriously. Because of our policy of confidentiality regarding customer account matters, it is inappropriate to comment," a statement obtained by The Malay Mail reads.

Meanwhile, the National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (Nufam) is calling respective officials for a tougher review and monitoring of the accounts owned by both the passengers and crew on board MH370 and MH17.

Nufam president Ismail Nasaruddin said that the investigators should act fast to avoid the same case from happening again. There could be more passengers who are losing money while the case had not been solved. He said that Malaysia's central bank, Bank Negara, has access to the accounts that the victims had - hence, it should monitor the accounts while the families are still grieving.

"The families are still mourning. The last thing on their minds is the money their loved ones left behind. The authorities must assist the families in ensuring the safety of the bank accounts," Nasaruddin said.

Bit of a problem if flying with them causes your bucket list.

In all seriousness, they've been struck down with extra ordinary bad luck.

I don't see anything "free" there. A little misleading

The MH17 incident could have just as easily happened to Air India or Singapore IF Malaysia wasn't targeted deliberately, but they are one of the better airlines out there.

Even with the two crashes this year they are still safer than many major airlines in terms of crash history.

The stupid thing is, those prices aren't that special anyway. I paid that price this time last year to Phuket return pre MH370 and MH17 disasters.

The 'free' allegations for tickets is some kind of 'draw' in an attempt for positive publicity.

11 airframes stolen from Tripoli by Islamist rebels.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...niversary.html

As the anniversary of 911 occurs next Friday the 12th of September, it's scary what these fanatics could do.
Also, the suggestion that MH370 was a trial run to see how hard it is to avoid detection conjures up frightening possibilities.

It was 6 years old when wrecked. Fairly new but certainly not brand new. Still a sad loss.

6 years old when wrecked.true would not have paid for the paint job and furnishing . it takes years of service to pay of the original costs .

most of it will be written off as a loss now I have seen people write up huge amounts in debt as a business and walk away from it with nothing to pay back

And sadly the company I worked for had to inform the mum and dad small businesses that you will not get paid that was a hard thing for me to do

I hope they would have found the aircraft before the $1 billion mark clicks over. How much will they eventually spend to no avail? And if they don't find it, which is a good possibility, when will they call off the search?

they will find it I am sure of that when and how well that is the question

there are many company's now searching the Indian ocean for mineral wealth as well as gas and oil

personally it I feel at this stage that is that is how they will find it by accident some one looking for something other than the aircraft.

lots of off shore fishing out that way that is a possible when some debry is brought up by fishing nets

They are still finding bombs from www2 in fishing nets off the UK coast not every day but every so often a net brings up a nice surprise

These two remain missing at sea:

707 - 1979 (Cargo)
727 - 2003 (Stolen)

MH370 is the first commercial jet airliner with passengers to have vanished without a trace (so far) though, but I'm surprised they still haven't found the Varig one, decades on or the 727.

the longer they are in the water the less they have to find

but now they are finding ship wrecks even deeper with new underwater technology

there is a company now looking for high value wrecks and finding silver and gold worth billions they are the ones who may find these aircraft

Agree, but these are aluminium/titanium parts. The Varig one was carrying some high value cargo.

Also, a Swiss Air plane crashed in 1998 off Nova Scotia. 98% of the aircraft was recovered but no trace of the $500 million worth of diamonds etc was found: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/the-my...argo-1.1051965

Imagine a post-apocalyptic or similar world where the ocean was drained or disappeared and all the long-lost items lying at the bottom.

images all of the gold silver and other valuable items they would find

as I said the company that was on a TV show have the latest in deep deep div technology and they are finding billions from old shop wrecks but the cost is huge now if the ocean was drained that would be so easy

Steve Price was quite correct on Ch 10 Project tonight saying that they need to find the aircraft, to ensure the safety of the worldwide B777 fleet. If it was a mechanical or structural failure, it needs to be found.

But saying that, Boeing and FAA (being the Type Certificate holder) should then be pitching in to subsidise the search, and not sit waiting on their bums letting Australia and Malaysia foot the search bill.

And if the cause was found to be a rogue pilot or other issue unrelated to the aircraft itself then both would surely be entitled to a refund of any contribution they made?

Reality is it's too early to complain about the cost, just find it determine the cause, then think about who else should contribute.
