Maybe i am just a one eyed ford man but I find the ss just looks like an overweight epica to me, I just can't warm to it, the interior is nice though no doubt but the engine bay is the worst I have seen in many years all that plastic looks rubbish and would be the first thing I changed.
I'm sure its a great drive but would take an fgx xr8 ( not that I think it has perfect looks either ) any day.

You guys do know they also have a full review and another "5 reasons we love the Chevy SS" video too, yeah? At which point, it's pretty balanced. I'm not saying I think they're the best car journos around, though... |

I was reading this morning (Wheels October) that Holden have registered the names Bathurst and Panorama and have promised a big farewell to the last aussie built Commodore which will be more than just stickers and badges.
They (Holden) say there is big things in the pipeline before production ends in just over 2yrs. If you are in the market for one I would suggest hang out for another 12-18 months because something better is coming. |

First road test of SSV Redline.
Sound isn't quite as nice as the miami but a lot better than the 6.0L. http://www.drive.com.au/new-car-revi...02-gjzntl.html |

The base SS will be good value with that motor in it.. Should be able to have one for less than $50k quite easily...
I've got a contract for a VF Series 2 SSV Redline in Manual, colour is Some Like It Red Hot for Mid $50k which Im happy with... Speaking to them to confirm what to do with my current car... For the equipment, tech and Engine its bloody good buying.. After driving the XR8 it went bloody well I just didn't like the fact that it was pretty much exactly the same to sit in as my 2009 FG XR6T....

was sitting in a series 2 ssv the other day, nice cars for sure - i'd hapily have one along side the T. There's just something about unapologetic big cube N/A V8s that i like.

Makes sense. I was going from a BF MkII, so it wasn't a problem I had to deal with. My decision may have been a little different if I was coming out of an FG.

I came from a 2008 FG XR6 to an FG X XR8 and while, yes, the interior is essentially the same, there are enough changes to make it feel new. My reasoning is the FG to FG X interior is ergonomically sound and I know my way around the cabin without the need to learn where everything is or how it works.

I had an FG XR6T new from 2009 - 2011. Got my FGX XR8 purely for the engine. The holden/hsv interior leaves the falcon for dead. It's like stepping back in time to 2009 when I sit in the XR8.......
Then I drive it, and forget about the interior......

I'm with you prof, born and bred ford man but had heaps of holdens as well over the years, the LS engines are kilometre eaters on the highway cruise, my LS1 sat on 1400rpm at 100kmh, my brothers E3 clubby with LS3 was 1700 odd, both sit in the low-mid 8 litres per 100km, and like the Miami are full of potential with some tweaks, had a good look at a new Falcon and commodore the commodore is just a better car all over for me as a mid range v8 car buyer (xr8, SS, Calais)

But a similar if not greater conundrum would face a Commodore buyer, given the (awkward looking, bum-up) external appearance of the VFII is not a lot different than the original 2006 VE. |

It's probably because I am Holden guy but I have no trouble picking VF from VE looking front on or from any angle.
