"Over-regulated"...? Can you imagine what would be driving around on the streets if it was a free for all, or if they just said "Hey, modify it how you like, it should be pretty safe"? Quote:

Of course. Excepting California, they do seem to be a lot more lax than our modifying laws.

ACA might be spinning crap, but some of the owners are no better, ACA/TT would have a lot less ammo with out the typical brainless comments and bogan posturing.

unreal!!!!!, just watched "The Project" on channel 10, where they ran a story on that Tennis player "Bernard Tomic" as he was in trouble or something to do with the BMW he drives as he is a P plater.
So the pannel says he has special permission to drive that car!!!! SO, if your rich or famous, you can get away with anything, I thought the law was that P platers are not able to drive high powered cars V8s/Turbo ect. not fair is it. and so FAR not one report about him breaking the P platers Law, special permission, what a load of ****!! |

wah wah wah dude, this has been and dusted already, Tomic is on his P's driving a BMW M3, good on him for being able to do it. Fair has nothing to do with, finding a loop hole in the law is fair, like criminals do it all the time.
Oh and he was given the M3 as part of his sponsorship by BMW, that would help with the exemption.

UPSET that the Media "ACA" can Label us as HOONS. UPSET that the Media feeds the general public with fodda, and in this case with Atomic billy-bunter!! has a missunderstanding with the cops!!. UPSET that there are rules for the common & a "lupehole for the rich" Im not really that upset, just dont like the fact that ACA can call us hoons and high society seem to get away with whatever/whenever. Shame on you ACA!!, ita a ******* shame!! how about doing a story on how most of the car clubs donate & do toy runs and try to educate the young!!! |

It's not ACA's fault (as annoying as they are) for reporting facts...those cars they showed were all full of defects, they were either close to or outright illegal modifications. It's not the police or medias fault that some people drive cars like that around.
What would be good is to see the same type of report at a road block where that story began, and the cops pulling over modified vehicle after modified vehicle that were all completely legal and having to let them go... |

while don't all the high horse jockeys complain about everyone else. i believe there are people on here using the exemption they complain of him getting the exemption, because he is rich and famous - when in reality they are only complaining about him, because he is rich and famous just a slight double standard. it reeks of hipocrysy - there are a few aff members should go to channel 9 and apply for a job at aca. they would fit in very well there |

no not spoilt because he is good at what he does, maybe I misused the word spoilt ,full of himself may be closer to the mark, thinks he's above the law perhaps. I'm not here for a slanging match, just sick of high profile athletes taht are on a pedastal. what do they offer ,only enterainment ( yep I watch cause they are good). I have more respect for the millions of people who go to work keep the world going round. lets face it we need doctors tradesmen etc more than sportmen. ps not all sportspeole are up themself. ahhh I feel better now. steve

Who says he hasn't worked hard himself? he has probably worked harder in his short life than some in their long life. As far as I'm concerned I can't see how he's abusing his power, he's just having a whine like some do on here regurlarly about cops picking on them what makes him any different that he can't?

Two issues which people keep missing.... One is that the average P plater applying for dispensation to drive a V8 to "WORK" probably wont get one, why is he special? Two is that people keep saying "HE WORKED HARD"... BIG DEAL! Its sport NOT A JOB.... a lot of people bust their hump day in and day out in REAL JOBs, SAVE PEOPLES LIVES etc and what do they get in return? He is a spoiled 19yr old with a chip on his shoulder... big deal he is a tenis player. Lets all worship him.

i would think that bmw have actually given him this car for advertising. maybe bmw would not give him another car, because then the home experts with too much time on their hands would have nothing to complain about. this way, for lending a car out, they get more media coverage than most manufacturers could dream of if there was any injustice involved, then martin king would leave his cwa meeting and go and harrass tomic. because he hasn't, there cannot be too much wrong with the exemption - except for the poor dears who are jealous it is so laughable. it is a thread about aca and how they have no idea on what they are talking about - and now we have people who have no idea on the situation at hand complaining . . . . looks like aca's brand of journalisim is not so bad after all. selective morals are alive and well everywhere |

Obviously you were never any good at sport Goose, I love how people don't class it as a real job, thats actually quite amusing because it goes to show how much you know about and what it takes to get to the top level in most sports, it doesn't just happen you have to work hard real hard.
Also Goose, you missed my point when I said I see lots of P Platers in Adelaide driving Turbo's, FPV's and HSV's, that one was conveniently missed by all except 1.

It has NOTHING to do with jealousy... He failed to stop for police, drives home and locks the gates on police and refuses to talk to them until his lawyer arrives. Seriously your defending him? Police are doing their job... No chip on my shoulder...

Anyway, off the topic of that plonker Tomic who thinks the laws and restrictions he'd been privelaged enough to be given shouldn't apply to him, and back onto modded cars.
In the USA, things aren't as free and easy as people would have you believe...California is very strict on mods...look in any Yank car magazine and you will usually see a little label on them saying "For off road use only" or "Not for road use in California"...they're very clean and green there by state government edict. Then you have the problem which hasn't...yet...reared its ugly head here: clunker laws. In many states n the USA, you can modify your car as long as it meet regs, but the fun begins when you have either a parts car at home or your street car is off the road being modded, say in your driveway or beside the shed. Some laws go as far as saying that if an unregistered vehicle can be seen from the road, it will be confiscated and crushed as a clunker. Others say if there's a complaint about the vehicle, they'll come and take it. Some say if it's "not complete" they'll come and take it. This has been a sticking point with old car clubs and the classic car movement or many years now, and it's all in the name of the environment ad the green movement. Remind me again who holds the balance of power in parliament here...? Just be thankful we're not like the USA... |
