Would that make it the world's most 6 Cylinder Turbo? It would come awfully ****ing close wouldnt it?

That would be absolutely insane.

Something about a 370Kw Turbo 6, tickles my fancy and I'm a V8 guy.

Only if Holden would make a 6, half as impressive. (Performance wise)

My vote is for an F6 (or simlar) type terri, if it is i think it will be a waste of money just like the turbo territory, i just dont see why anyone would want to buy an I6T terri o dont see the point. But i think im probably the only person on here that thinks this way AWD Terri Ghia is jut fine, ford should better spend their resources and cash

It sounds like we're getting what we want (sorta), a Super Typhoon. I'm reasonably sure it wont get a power hike, just standardised equipment GTP style.
Assuming this is right, I reckon GTP/Tempest wont get a power benefit over their 'lesser' brothers until OR Falcon comes out*.

*YES, I'm still pushing that the 2008 Orion Falcon will be designated OR.

Take 100kw off your ford figure and you have a deal. Ford are not looking at making a brand new car, they are going to spice up an existing car with an existing motor for the sake of saving big bucks and generating new interest. Developing the 6 to put out 370kw reliably will cost millions, and it just aint ever going to happen. Not only that, ford would likely be liable for suit should some idiot get behind the wheel of a 370kw machine and kill someone, as ADR's would need to be bent, broken and buggered to allow that to happen. In short, far too many bucks for ford to touch it.
Most likely is the existing FPV 6 in a fairlane or territory - keeping in the same vein as the force cars.

the only other thing it could be is an intermediate model between XR8 and Typhoon- there's a huge price gap there and no model to fill it.

Would also open the door for an entry level FPV to take on the SS-V and have the added FPV prestige over it, just a thought.

There's too many models higher up for it to slot in anywhere unless it was a super-pursuit style Tornado (Tornado ute with GTP seats)- personally I can't see the GT-P continuing, give the GT the nice seats, charge a little more for it and option all 6 pot packages. That makes sense. They now have Force 6 and 8 higher up, there is no need for a Fairlane and how many people will but it really? It's a confusing lineup with not much difference between models in all reality.

Tempest could be the new Typhoon and Typhoon inherit GT-P Seats and GT-P style package?

I would guess it to be an entry level model, it would make sense. A model shift A-la Holden, which was very, very clever..........

Unless the obvious Territory is a goer, it couldn't be anything ultra-new, so I would think this sounds feasible.

So Ford Stable: XR6, XR6T, XR8
FPV Stable: Tornado, Pursuit, Tempest, Super Pursuit, GT, Typhoon, GT-P, Force 6, Force 8 (or Tempest and Typhoon the other way around)

Looking for possibilities, but don't really care :P

Actually, putting them in order makes me realise how many they really do now- makes it even more confusing to see where it will fit in.

Hmmmmm, so confusing

If Ford was going to release another turbo 6 Falcon but with a socially irresponsible 350kw+ (according to the press), then in keeping with the typhoon/tornado theme it should be called
F6 Katrina. :dr_Evil:

Ironically the Tempest name was first used (in a automobile) on a Pontiac and was the precursor to the GTO. The GTO started out as an option on the Tempest, and later it became an own model.
Also the Typhoon was another GM vehicle, it was a Turbochaged V6 2 door SUV built in the early 90s.

Tornado was also Tickford's codename for the series 3 TE50- interesting trivia but irrelevant to what the model could be.....

Wouldn't it be anyway? I mean, they are making their own performance cars...wouldn't they, in any situation, say what they were making, what specs it would have and when it would be released etc? That is hardly a secret formula Flap.

i don't think it will be a territory as i doubt the territory would wear the 'f6' badge as that belongs on the falcon based cars. even if it was i wouldn't like it. who needs a performance 4wd. due to the higher centre of gravity they would never be able to take advantage of that extra power except in a straight line and then there's the fuel issue. as if they don't drink enough as it is.

i guess we'll all find out sooner or later!

Going back a few years someone tried to import AUIII Falcons into the UK.

They were called Verte Tempest. !!! didnt sell too well.

I hope they give us a cracker car but it may end up like the force cars.

Maybe you should let BMW know of this before they release their new 335i, twin-turbo 3.0 (oops....too late)
I have a B4 and yes, I kind of agree with you, being a sequential setup is not the best, but the GTR, a single turbo conversion is usually done only when chasing big, big kw's 400+ atw.

With the Bathurst 12H next year and GTP starting to get support and off the ground, is the F6 Tempest the 1st of a new breed of 'Road going Racecars' for this generation?

I certainly hope so...

You might be on to something there. Could just be a P version of the F6. 6 pot Brembos, better seats etc. Either that or an FPV Territory.

Probably won't see it used till sometime in 2008 though.

F6 was meant to mean forced 6, as in a forced induction 6 cylinder. This doesn't make it Falcon specific. The ute and sedan are both called F6, either Tornado or Typhoon. That would make a Territory with an F6 engine an F6 Territory because it has a forced induction 6 cylinder. Pretty obvious isn't it. You can gaurentee the FPV Territory will be called the F6 (insert whatever wind they are going to use here, wether that be Tempest, Hurricane, Cyclone etc.)

If you owned a Territory you would understand why people want turbo versions. You need the extra power to get it moving, but retain the ability to carry seven people or a heap of gear in the back. Its all about practicality. Sure it won't handle like a sedan but if it goes like a hot one thats good enough.

lol i remember when the terri first came out..... i read an article in Performance Ford where someone made a Terri turbo.. lol the article was called Urban Assult Vehicle hehehe....i p!ssed my pants laughing at the ppl when Ford released the terri turbo.....hahah hehehehe......i believe the it will be the Terri F6T...im sure it will be lowered, a bodykit, wheels and obviously a BOOST in power from the F6 powerplant.....

if you follow the way ford hav gone with the F6

Falcon XR6 = Falcon xr6T = F6T
Falcon XR6 ute = Falcon ute XR6T = F6T ute
Ford territory = Terri Turbo = F6T

I would have thought it was the same in meaning a category rating for a Typhoon/Tornado warning…. F5 being the biggest, FPV made one category higher F6.

The FPV boss has already indicated an FPV Territory is not due in this model cycle. Doesn't make sense to develop one then replace it with a new one in over a year.

Also, they may have trademarked the name to ensure it's not used elsewhere, just in case they want to use it later/. It doesn't necessarily indicate something with that name might actually be released.

This is true, however, they USUALLY don't design a badge at the same time though. There is usually a 5-7 month cycle from submiting a TM and when the car is actually released - FPV Force 6 and FPV Force 8 was submited in April and we have only just seen them released now.... so it might not be until May next year that we see this F6 Tempest, or it could be by the new year.. it won't take much to get a terri or LWB donar car, chuck the GT body kit, seats and dash in, and drop in the F6 engine....

FPV has confirmed it will not launch a Territory-based model until the new model arrives in 2008

Ford Performance Vehicle’s boss Sak Ryopponen has confirmed the worst kept secret in Aussie performance motoring – Ford’s hotshoe brigade is seeking to build a high-performance variant of the Territory. But, and it’s a big but, he has poured cold water on any hopes of the Cayenne-chaser arriving until the next generation of Falcon/Territory arrives in 2008.

Talking at the launch of FPV’s revised and expanded BF MkII based range in Sydney yesterday (see CarPoint for details tomorrow), Ryopponen said the Prodrive-owned performance division had the top-selling Ford SUV “firmly in its sights.” He also intimated it had completed engineering trials.

Though a hotter Territory has been discussed in private before, this is the first time any on-the-record comment has been made about the potential addition to the FPV line-up.

“Every project that was off the table is back on the table,” Ryopponen told CarPoint referring to the potential product mix of FPV.

“There are some priority projects we’re looking at, but above all they have to make sense from a business case perspective.

“We would definitely like to do something with Territory and we have the capability to do something with Territory, whether it can become a commercial reality [now] is the issue. We have proved we can do [engineer] it.”

Ryopponen confirmed however that no approved program for the existing model Territory existed. With the current Falcon and Territory due to be replaced in 2008, he stated that the time it takes to gain approval for the program would make it impossible for the all-paw hottie to arrive until the next generation.

The FPV boss also conceded that there would be no “major” changes to its largely Falcon-based range in the short term.

According to FPV product chief Mark Behr, save for one model due to be announced at Sydney tomorrow, it believes it has “filled the market opportunities available to it” with current Falcon-based content.

According to Ryopponen the game will change with the new generation car: “2008 and beyond is a new ball game,” he said.

“Our wishlist [for the new generation Falcon and Territory] has been in for some time. We have some opportunity for refinement of that wishlist, [but] that window is closing pretty rapidly. We’re happy with where we are, with the state of play given we have had to do a lot of the core work already,” he said.

Ryopponen said the new Ford and FPV models would debut close together. Holden and HSV recently did the same thing with their respective VE-based ranges. But he also confirmed that FPV needed to move beyond just large car product and that the company still sought to offer a wider model mix.

“We’d like to offer a broader range of vehicles that we currently do,” he said. “As opportunities arise we will beat them to death in terms of trying to make them work… We have a will to build very much beyond what we do at the moment.”

Ive been hearing some rumors lately that the TEMPEST is FPV's drift toy the DRIF6. around 380KW and 700 NM of torque for quick stats. Hearing the the only difference between the road car and track car is Rev limiters on 1st, 2nd and 5th. ????

All a mystery. would be an extreme UP for ford if something like this was introduced
