The Ba/BF for me.
I like the EA aswell (for those who don't). It's been good to me, except the head gasket, cracked radiator, distributor, multiple cracked hoses, It just comes with a old car, LOL

Come on guys, can you really say that if you saw a genuine pristine XY GTHO parked next to any of the other models, you wouldn't drool over the HO?

Its faster, much faster, for a start. It handles better. It brakes better. You can drive it on a daily basis. Its more comfortable, it has climate control, it has a good stereo.... Its not an old, rare collectable that's irreplaceable that one would be too scared to drive for fear of anything happening to it. I'd hate to have a car like that. I like to drive cars, not gawk at them in a garage. Or at a show. Probably why I don't like show cars or car shows like that, except the Sydney Motorshow and events like that where you can actually see and touch brand new cars. So yeah, I wouldn't drool over the GT-HO, I'd say, "Wow, what a nice car," as I've done many times in the past, and leave it at that.

But best car? No way. The BFII is safer, smoother, more comfortable, better for the environment, more fuel efficient and as was stated, you can drive it around without worrying about vandalism. From a collectors point of view...yes, the HO is a great car. But families don't drive to church in a HO. They drive BFII Falcon XTs. We are dealing with reality here. |

Way too tough! But after some thought, I choose to run with the EF. It's been a sex symbol since it's release. I lusted after an EF (even a stock GLi would have done ) when I was in highschool and (in my opinion) it's one of the best looking four doors ever built. The XR's are gorgeous cars and they drive brilliantly, even today.
It was either the EF, the BF or the XC (just for the coupe models). Also, why seperate the AUI from the AUII and III??? It would be more justfiable to seperate EB into series 1 and series 2, than it would be to part the AU's... |

Nothing wrong with the new models. Truth be told, I love old girls more, but nothing wrong with a BA/BF with a Boss or Barra. ***Drools*** |

if the ba and bf are too new for this poll then it looks like (theoretically speaking) the xy is the winner (only because its running third behind them)

I didn't vote, can't chose which is "best".
I've had and XC 4 door, XF wagon, EB Fairmont, and now a BA ute, I've loved them all. Always lusted after an XA, B, or C coupe - to me they are sex on wheels. :

of course more people go with the newer models, what happened to old school?! i love the shape of the xk - xp models, but i go the xm as it was the first aussie coupe in the falcon range. the xm, and xb coupes were great, why wont ford recognise that and release a coupe in the bf range, perhaps its on the cards for the '08 model? if any of you have seen the Hiller's "arrow" au coupe, youd know what im talking about, its a damn sexy looking car, and i know id sure as hell buy one!

The main problem is what defines BEST? Is it most sales, most racetrack victories or something that blew everyone away when it was released. The BF Series 2 is the best falcon technologically wise to be released, The XF one of the most popular sales wise and the XY and XA/B/C coupes were the cult cars of peoples youth. However my vote went to the BA because Ford took a roll of the dice and they won. It was a big and costly effort and it paid off.

I am basing my judgement on the "basic 4" being the GL/GLi/Forte/XT, Futura, Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia. These are the cars that families drive. However, many families drive XR6s too. The GTHO has become a legend through exclusivity and rarity. But my opinion is that the BFII is the best car so far because it has a good engine, better brakes, more comfortable interior, lighter, better transmission, more fuel efficient and better for the environment. I love the X series from the XB onwards (also like XPs/XWs/XYs) and the E-Series too, and AUs were great, but the fact is that Ford aims to perfect their cars continually and the BFII shows the current culmination in improvements. Although some say AU interiors are nicer, the AU has a different engine and inferior transmission (not saying it's bad though -still take it over our VT tranny). The BA/F configuration has also been the most successful in the V8 Supercars for Ford ever. Blah blah blah tightarse conservative idiot repeating himself. But the BFII canes. |
