That would be launch of new Territory and Ecoboost LPI engine for sedan and Ute.
Ford know they are under it with sales at the moment but new products will certainly help.

Word leaked out a while ago that next gen Falcon decision has been delayed until early next year,
Ford wants to see how new Territory and EcoLPI do in the market place before finalizing the decision.
I doubt that recent events have swayed them from that timeline, shame Ecoboost isn't here yet...

Holden unfortunately are far better at marketing their cars than Ford Aust which is a pity because the FG is a superior car from what I can gather.

I used to like the older ute ads:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlAEbqIkoUY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4hDo2FmOsM
I can't find the one from the same series with the cops following closely behind, and the final phrase "I reckon we should take them for a run on the salt flats" or something like that

Newer ford ad that I vaguely remember from last year

It's not just the advertising that's the problem... It's the product themselves.
Not so much the base from which they start.... that part is all good!! But there are not enough options to allow you to personalise the cars.... to make them stand out as "yours" ! It's a lot easier to order a new Falcon with extras... than add them later. Driving lights for example. They'll fit in the bumper.. but you can't wire them in without dodging something up.. or buying expensive factory looms and pulling half your car apart to fit them! Ford make it too hard! They seem to have forgotten that the young lads who buy used cars and do them up, will one day be new car buyers. Because of things like this... they've already lost their market to other brands before people can afford to buy new.

I really don't need to add anything really.
Get rid of the bean counters from management.
Look at what has been done in the past.
Look at what the competition is doing.
Actively market what is really the best car for the price available in Australia.
Bring out a knew model. Face lifts work.
Selling a knew car that is 3½ years old is just silly.
My son has an FG Falcon. Why would he update it when the new car is exactly the same as the one he's got now.

the main difference is that Holden (1) advertise (2) spend the money on reasonable quality ads.

what's the last ad from Ford? Moffat in the FPV?

'wanna hear it again?' ... I mean FFS, amateur hour as far as advertising goes.

IMO I don't think Holden ads of late have been anything special.

Just saw an ad for the $34,990 driveaway XR6 auto, wasn't half bad. Car looked good, and they showed a few features of the car.

They are still clearing out 2010 plate stock via the Ford Advantage Program.

XR6 sedan for ~30K drive away...

any other Falcon from the range at employee price + ORC + ~$1,500.

Pity they don't advertise this, unless they've basically cleared their 2010 plates.

With prices like that I would consider going out getting a loan and buying one. no doubt the current gen of Falcons will hold their value as they will be replaced with the FWD taurus soon enough.

Pfftt...The falcon is now dead.

No wonder holden is always on top, Ford just don't seem to give a rats ar-se anymore.

Got to be a good deal if you need a big modern sedan. Brilliant drivetrain tailor made for Aussie conditions and ideally suited to long distance driving. And about 14 million % better than the poxy four wheel drive things mums are currently clogging the roads dropping johnny off at school each day and picking him up because he is too stupid to actually make it to school and back by himself.

Hold their value? I'll be happy if mine holds together

Typing partly through what I sit on... You are going to buy a car for 30k+ that will be valued at 20k when you drive out the door. You are going to spend I don't know how much on interest payments. I'm not familiar with car financing nor your tax situation but I can't see how you are going to balance out let alone hold value.

I almost spilled coffee all over my mapple keyboard reading this, how true. The SUV's here in New Zealand is ridiculous, I cannot ever recall seeing an advertisement for a Falcon on TV or news paper for long enough.
