I've got a good idea, if YOU are part of the group that the Chinese virus effects then YOU can self isolate and stay inside away from the rest of us as we go about our day to day lives.

Take some personal responsibility for your own health and well-being if it's going to effect you so badly.

There's 7.8 billion people on this planet, we could use a good clean out, Chinese virus doing it's bit for climate change by reducing world overpopulation.

Hey Franco, I'm 70 and to make matters worse my grandmother was half Chinese, so I think I am in big trouble of being susceptible to the Chinese virus so me and my dog are holed up watching reruns on TV because from last accounts the virus is closing in - it is now only a 7-hour drive away from us.

The good news is that I'll probably survive and then when "my people" take over Australia (we own half of it already) youse blokes will have that smirk wiped off ya face.

So far 140 countries are infected World feckin wide! Are they ALL part of this massive conspiracy??
Where I live, even though our numbers are low at 41 infected, zero deaths (SO far) it has been taken incredibly seriously! (As it has in the rest of Central America) Borders closed, bars, nightclubs, farmers markets and most social gatherings totally shut down!
This will be absolutely devastating for an economy like Costa Rica that’s so reliant on tourism... WHY would they commit economic suicide, if they didn’t believe the threat to be genuine???
As for my earlier post on possible Australian fatalities... This was released by Australia’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer... Not conjured up by some sensationalistic 2nd rate newspaper!

We will soon know who is right Charlie.

Apparently Holland is using the herd immunity approach.

Get infected, get over it and life goes on.

Or something like that.

The Dutch government aims to build COVID-19 immunity in its population by letting large numbers get the virus at a controlled pace, while the UK's chief science officer has previously said its government would aim to build up a "herd immunity".

Discussions of "herd immunity" are different when it comes to COVID-19, because it's not known what percentage of the population needs to be immune to protect people who are vulnerable.

Right now, it's being suggested between 70 and more than 80 per cent of people could need immunity from COVID-19 to protect the rest of the community.

Medical experts are still uncertain whether coronavirus infection creates immunity, or how long that immunity might last. There's no vaccine, so there's no option to build immunity in the population without people developing the illness and therefore the possibility of severe consequences.

This thread is very illuminating.

That Covid 19 in most young, healthy, people with no other co-morbidities will result in some 2 weeks of possibly feeling a little lousy only, misses the point.

Covid 19 is a virus that has a long shelf life for hands to pick up, and it now appears able to be transferred from Covid 19 asymptomatic person to healthy person- within a couple of metres radius of the asymptomatic Covid 19 person.

What the self isolation policy is directed at is slowing the spread of Covid 19 to a steady manageable stream so that our health facilities can deal with the old, feeble, co-morbidity patients who need oxygen and intensive medical assistance as well as the usual case load unrelated to Covid 19.

If the country does not self isolate and attempt to do so, we end up in a situation like Italy, where infection rates have ballooned, the medical facilities are totally overwhelmed, the medical staff make an assessment that a very sick old person with Covid 19 is not worth the meagre medical resources available as against a young person with co morbities and Covid 19, and provide the old person with no medical treatment and that person is left to their own resources- namely leave that poor sod to die.

Australia is trying to prevent this, string out the Covid 19 infections so that our health facilities can cope and can provide ALL AUSTRALIANS with medical help if they need it.

This attitude of bugger me I am right jack -I am healthy- so what if old or sick farts die from Covid 19, is so at odds with our grandparents who went and fought in the First World War who did so believing they were defending their country- put their country and family in front of themselves.

To a certain extent this self interested me first bugger the rest attitude in Australia has also pervaded our politics- playing on the selfish self interest instead of the greater good.

At least now Australia has realised what this is all about, acting a bit less selfish, self isolating and being careful, to help our health systems be in a position to provide treatment to those truly in need of medical treatment.

Yes and that is the idea...spread the total duration so the medical system can cope with the number of cases instead of being flooded with thousands at once and having to make decisions on who lives and dies.

Nope - the group who is saying feck everyone else is the tiny percentage of our population who this effects demanding the rest of society stops their lives.

They're causing irreparable damage to our economy, did anyone ask any if our casually employed hospitality staff who are on the knife edge of losing their meal tickets?

We're a first world, rich, DEMOCRACY and like **** I will be having my freedoms infringed upon because of a minority group wants everyone else to bend to their will.

All this talk about Australia having worse medical facilities than the 'joke of Europe' Italy? Whose fault is that? Not mine that's for sure.

The irony is this effects the parts of the community who run the show and call the shots - how fitting!

Maybe they shouldn't have allowed our health system to become such a joke - now it effects them they want everyone else to give up their livelihoods and lives to stay indoors to help keep them alive.

Go live in China if you want to have this ridiculous assertion of a 'lockdown', you can join the 2 million Muslims they've got undergoing 'education' in 'school'.

Interested to know mate, coming from someone who has lost a parent young and two of my best mates, along with plenty of other mates.

If someone close to you keeled over tomorrow from the virus would you change your current outlook? If your parents died tomorrow would you still think the same.

Personally unless you are heartless I think you would change your outlook, but from experience you never actually know how you will feel until it happens.

If i was told I have a 1 in 100 chance in dying and that i should just take the risk i'd be saying to get stuffed. I'll be doing all I can to not be one of those 100.

China, Japan, Italy, South Korea, many parts of the EU - schools were amongst the first to close!
People want their kids safe in case you hadn't noticed.
The Chief Medical Officer has now provided advice to keep schools open.
I'll go with the advice of medical experts over an angry person on a car forum.

I'd be upset no doubt, but it is what it is.

I don't live my life on exceptions, look at your own example, it's 1 percent bud, what about the 99% that everything is perfectly fine?

If you lived your life like that you wouldn't drive because you might not make it to your destination.

Better get in the shops now and stock up just in case we have a nuclear war.

Don't go outside when it rains because you might get struck by lightning.

Don't go camping in case of bushfires.

Don't go swimming in case you drown.

Don't go outside in summer in case you get skin cancer.

What's the numbers of confirmed cases globally with the virus infected and deaths and what is this in terms of word population?

How does this stack up to the black plague, the Spanish flu, WWI and WWII?

WWII killed 50-70M people in the space of 6 years.

What about all the other issues we've survived in the past 500 years?

Give it a year and you won't even remember COVID-19

Exception - not the rule, risk management principles.

I'm not the one stripping the shops bare so no one else can buy their regular essentials, yet I'm the bad guy?

I'm still getting my coffee from the cafe across the road from work every morning.

I'm still turning up to work, so we can keep the parts needed for repairs on people's trucks to keep them on the road, or components that trains and trams use to keep them on the road moving stuff about.

I was just thinking well, it's a man made virus thing that has got out of control.
Now I may be wrong. but who is talking about such being the foundation of this that should be talked about and not hidden from such a view, why I say this is if the handful of people who truly control the world, like Rothschild's and their ilk, well this could destroy the economy, not just a recession but a full on depression, the foundations of the worlds economy are built on pure BS if anyone bothers to look into such, so it can crash that bad that every ones Super will be wiped out even totally.

Now if we let the virus run free, maybe most of the filthy dregs will be killed and the old and that would bring back the regrowth much better, I will be dead if I get it because my lungs are RS but I not worried about myself as I am ok to go and I do not like the new age world at all in fact I despise it all as it's become a creep show as morals have been turned upside down to service all the degenerates.

Look at Italy the hospitals have a system of who will be set aside to die, now do the people know the protocols, is it news worthy ? hushed up ? or is it minority's looked after first to apply Politically correct hell bent agendas. well I would not be surprised at all, just saying.

Bill Gates has no medical qualifications. Therefore his opinion is no more valuable than mine. But just because he is famous and wealthy he gets to promote his opinion to a much larger audience. And in that audience are a lot of lemmings who believe Bill because of his fame and wealth (he wouldn't be wealthy if he was a dumb can't eh? /sarc).

I'd rather obtain my opinion from those who are experts and work in that industry than from 'celebrities'.

Guns are useless against zombies! A sharpened stake through the heart (or is that vampires?)

Read "The Death of Grass" as you don't understand why people buy guns.
