CM Regal with vynil roof and a/c, without p/s, one wing mirror, the unbeatable 265 and Torque Flight - which outside of police cars was apparantly extremely rare. Still got her out the back - she deserves a full rebuild now that I've learned so many lessons with the XB.

EBII Gli I6 Auto, still have it and drive it. Cracker car, taily as all , but I'll miss it. Owes me nothing, and I get preference when changing lanes 'cos other people got nice new cars that are worth money.

Not a bad first car, it ran mid 12's back when mid 12's were quick. I still have it and was going to throw a heap of cash at it before I bought the BA

1987 Nissan Skyline R31 5sp wagon. Geez that thing went hard! If I were to see another one tomorrow in the same condition or better I would not at all hesitate to buy it! I loved that car!

HR sedan, three on the tree with a 186.

The only thing it was good for was rooting in.

1977 TE Ghia 3sp T-Bar auto 250 4.1 with vinyl roof
goes like a bullet till you reach top speed @ 165km/h or you hit a puddle of water and then the engine dies

1979 GH Chrysler Scorprion - 2.6 litre 4 cylinder (factory claimed 76kW!) with 3 speed auto - I couldn't get it to go faster then 160km/hr. My car was light metallic blue with grey interior. The attached picture is for those who don't know what a Scorpion looks like (exactly same model).

When the Astron 4 cylinder engine was released Chrysler/Mitsubishi used to boast that it had the power of a 6 cylinder with the economy of a 4 cylinder. After owning my Scorpion for five years I can tell you it had the power of a 4 cylinder with the economy of a 6 cylinder! It was reliable and ran well (once the engine was warm). But it was just basic transport and wasn't worth spending any money on so I kept the vehicle in factory condition.

Yes I acknowledge that they are girly cars. But I couldn't afford to run a Falcon at that time. I was 19 when I purchased the car for $6,700 and was very happy at that time. Although it was gutless, my car at 160km/hr was a lot smoother then my mate's XB sedan (250ci) at 140km/hr. His car wanted to shake itself apart above that speed.

Those were the good old days when freeways were FREEways. I never saw police on the freeways in those days.

Go the sigma's, had a few of em' and they never let me down, unlike the ea did haha that was a heap of shite.

gsr sigma that was a cool looking 80s beast

They lasted well if maintenance was pro active rather than reactive.

A 1976 Honda Civic, 1200cc, 4 speed manual, blown head gasket, and no syncho in 1st. Yet I drove it like that for many years and chucked 'chemi-weld' in every month.

My first car was a Chrysler Valiant Charger VH 1972.
Stock 265 hemi motor and auto.
Factory bronze, with big fat rear 265x60 series bf goodriches and "Formula" chromie mags.

I was only 18 ( a wee while ago now...lol) and I was in such a hurry to get my new baby home, that I only realised when I got there, that the big round air filter housing wasn't even on! It was on the shop floor at the dealers after a carby tune...my old man put one of mums stockings over the carby and we drove back and picked up the air filter on the weekend!!

Man, I spent every weekend doing stuff to that car- detailed it beautifully.

A bit of a grunter for a first car,for sure- but then it did pull the chicks....hehehehe

Really i think unless you bought something that has been flogged, every car has the potential to do the right thing by you if you look after it.

76 Ford Escort coupe. Bought it in 91 for $2k. Ended up spending/wasting at least $10k rebuilding the thing, reco motor, gearboxes, diff, new interior, cutting out rust, respray, ghia alloys etc... Sold it in 97 for $4k and the car was as good as new. I think if I ever get the urge to own an old car again, I'll buy someone else's completed project!!

Now I drive a Focus. The logical progression of the Escort.

1977 HJ 45 Landcruiser trayback, complete with the mind blowing performance (sic) of the 3.6 litre inline 6 diesel and 4 speed gearbox. Still have it sitting in the shed, though it's too rusty to save now. Damn 7.50-16 cheesecutter tyres rocked.
