Yeah i seen the UK version of the show pretty much most of the season and bits of piece of season 11 already thou. I can honestly say that Australia cut a few part ant scrable the whole UK show into bits and slog in different part of the season together, that was to rush

V8 commonwhores against V8 Falcons/FPV's.

Now THAT is a comparo, not a V8 HSV against a FPV tarted up xr6 hair dryer turdbo rice bucket.

Theres more to the FPV range than just the f6. Zzzzzz.

The segment is a star in a reasonably priced car. With these cars - if they wreck it, no-one will miss the car!
TG UK used a Suzuki Liana (yawn) and what is a Holden Viva (spew)

Righto, better balance F-R, more power/torque and faster? And the GT is the better car all-round? Get your hand off it mate.

If the F6 is just a "FPV tarted up xr6 hair dryer turdbo rice bucket.", then the GT is just a "FPV tarted up XR8 slow as buggery pus bucket"...not that is what I actually believe, but an opinion as absurd as this gent's opinion of the F6.

That said, GT does have an advantage....and its something that is not able to be measured....The sound.... and thats about it

You have "best all round" mixed up with "car most desirable to me".....in which, funnily enough, actual vehicle ability has nothing to do with, and both sides of the T6/V8 fence would do well to remember that.

Anyhow, enough of dealing with people with there head in the sand..

TG-A was good for a launch show, has a lot of potential....

Early TG-uk was woeful, as you could witness in the repeats they have been playing recently.

Also, in regards to the track, I think its more challenging...less room when you stuff up before your off on the grass...

I really enjoyed it, of course it isn't TopGear UK, but it was good in its own right.

The test track seems average.

Top Gear UK did focus on cars that everyone could afford for almost a season and the show nearly went under as the ratings were so bad. Hence. they returned to the formula of using High end and supercars as a base for the formula and the ratings went back up. The show is not a wheels car magazine, it is supposed to be a humourous show that involves cars with some outlandish tests and races thrown in. Give them time, it think it will pick up. My 5 cents worth

well im undecided, I though the pilot was rather disappointing, but i hoping once they settle in a bit and get used to each other the show ill become better. The reviews could be abit more indepth, they seem to rush though them very quickly, i know the maybech has headphones and thats it. the star in a reasonable priced would have been better as something more aussie and or aleast more popular in aust ie focus, astra or similar

i will watch next week as ford v holden should be good, see if they pansy round there comments on the cars or not.
still very much undecided but will continue to watch for a few more weeks and make judgement if they relax abit more

A bit dissapointed like most here. Thought it lacked ozzy content and was a clone of Top Gear UK. Need our comical Australian outlook to appeal. The cars were what you see on the UK version. Give us some ozzy cars and throw in some old oz muscle as well otherwise it will dissapear slowly as a cheap copy should. Hopefully next week they'll try a little harder FPV V HSV.

I must say it was disappointing. It was a clone of U.K. Even down to the presenters, the way they dressed and even their traits. Like the guy in brown clearly a rip off of May even with the whole slowness and no sense of direction thing. I was under the impression i was going to be unique but here I was getting ready to turn it off. I will still watch it, but if they are going to survive I think they have to change.

basically it was what I was expecting, but less than I hoped for.

But first episode, you cant really bag it already, at least there wasnt any major flaws like you would expect if channel 7/9/10 picked it up and flogged it to death. But I hope they ditch any desperate Australiana references fast. unless relevant its just embarrassingly forced identity crisis. half of all Australian shows are doing that now, like we wont realise its australian without a skippy reference or a couple of buzz words nobody here actually uses.

Everyone have opinions, and you have to respect that. Anyone here who owns an F6, I'm sure wouldn't like you calling their car a "FPV tarted up xr6 hair dryer turdbo rice bucket", just like I strongly disagree with you calling my car a "blot on the history of Ford Australia". It's been a damn good car. You seem to be the kind of person who makes up his mind on these subjects with no real reasoning and don't care if you annoy a few people along the way. Enough said.

btw. I found Top Gear Aus was pretty good... better than expected... but nowhere near the quality of the UK one.

not a bad effort I guess for a first shot some humble comments.

The old dude should be playing guitar with the Eagles I reckon, he is trying to hard to be like Clarkson, that Steve P guy has a head like a toilet brush and should lay off whatever he is on, I didn't mind Warren actually. Vince C was a bit of a dud, I wouldn't admit to driving a Saab

Yes some of the segments did seem to be cut short, dissappointing they didn;t drive the Lambo the 911 review was a bit light on. That test track is a joke I reckon I could do a better one in my backyard. And the Stig - learn how to drive!!! - he was struggling with the 911.

The sand / snow bit with the SUV's was a bit of the fun and the shark bit with the moke was interesting. Maybach review went for like 2 mins.

And were their any chicks in the audience, I think I saw one!!!! Mostly crusty old demons the old dude must have brought all his mates.

geez we are a bunch to critics. whilst i havent read all the 171 posts this topic has generated in a space of 12 hrs, I didnt mind the show. 1st attempted, give them time and they find their own style .

what you all have to remember it is prob a franchise of TG UK and has to be the same format as the original. Would be similar to any of the game shows, such as Your the Weakest Link, we get from o/seas.

Certainly some valid points made by some, but lets remain a little positive.

Slow, overweight, very blingy but with a rabid minority following. No they did that this week when they put the stretch hummer in against the 911, M3 and GTR.

No point in doing the same joke every week...........

Our expectations were always going to fairly high when we compare them to a long running series with a crew like they have in the UK. It's a successful show. We just gotta give them some time to find their own style. Off too a good start with next weeks show on HSV V FPV. I just hope it's not cut short like some of the segments from episode 1.

What really annoyed me was the vince collisimo and the clarkson wannabe "old git" both going on about how good the 253 was!
Ha
But the show wasnt to bad. (apart for the shark cage bs, I thought was watching "ask the Leyland bros"

The F6 IS the car to test against the Holden range. Its the best car Ford has, so why not test it against the best car Holden has. No use testing the GT, when even in a straight line its beaten by half the Ford stable.
I found the show quite good actually. Cant wait for the next show.

It's all been said so I won't bother except to say , give 'em a go. Nobody sets a lap record first time up on a new track.
My only real cringe was when they pulled out "The Stig"; made him sound like the same guy as in UK. They should have played it as "Our Stig" not "The Stig".

PS. Stig is too small to be Skafe or Bowe, he could barely see over the wheel on some of the cars, my vote is for Bargwana.

Hmm I thought the presenters are what will be the demise of the show, needed someone that wasn't so far up himself to be presenting and someone that just loves to drive any car. Yes the UK version set the pace, put we don't need to copy all of it, bring on some Oz influence to make it a great show.

Yeah, well, let's be honest............there was plenty of aspects to the show that made it easy to shoot holes through it. The guys tried a bit hard, the jokes were a bit forced, and some of the segments seemed rushed. Also, I agree with others re: the terrible go-kart test track. No, I didn't really enjoy it much.

HOWEVER, let's cut them a little slack. Its a first-up episode, and its almost impossible not to compare it to the UK version which is in its 6th year or whatever and is a top-budget, highly polished piece of TV entertainment. The presenters were as nervous as hell....its to be expected. Let 'em find their feet a bit before we do a hatchet job on them.

Note: And if we can keep the infighting and verbal BS out of this thread re: F6 vs GT, it will be a refreshing change thanks gents.

Brent.
