Wow, just wow.

Are the Malaysians saying that the equipment there couldn't track a 777 flying right past IGARI and VAMPI waypoints? How hopeless is their air defence if that's the case.

So its back to the original report. Moments before it went off the radar the plane took a sharp left.

Now it apparently rose to 45k feet when lost, and was still sending out signals 5h after it went missing..

Who will be first to make the movie I wonder?

I'm just watching an old episode of Air Crash Investigation and John Nance makes the statement that "there was an attempt to throw blame in all directions. Very human. Very understandable."

A very relevant comment to the MH370 situation, in my view.

I`m sticking to my original post. Wow, imagine what the Families are going through, lol. If it was a successful highjacking, it would have obviously landed somewhere, and there`s a small chance that some of the passengers may be alive, especially if they were only after the plane itself!! Authorities are already checking remote Islands in the general area that are capable of having a plane this size land on them.

I still think that the passengers were the target, those 20 employees are just too much of a coincidence.

Its ceiling is 43100 ft (Boeing), would be interesting at 45000 ft.

Yep I thought hijacking from day one. I think it either ran out of fuel or the passenger s over powered them but couldnt fly the plane.

Kuala Lumpur: Investigators have concluded that one or more people with significant flying experience hijacked the missing Malaysia Airlines jet, switched off communication devices and steered it off-course, a Malaysian government official involved in the investigation said Saturday.

No motive has been established and no demands have been made known, and it is not yet clear where the plane was taken, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to brief the media. The official said that hijacking was no longer a theory.

"It is conclusive," he said.

He said evidence that led to the conclusion were signs that the plane's communications were switched off deliberately, data about the flight path and indications the plane was steered in a way to avoid detection by radar.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak is expected to hold a press conference at 4.30pm AEDT.

The Boeing 777's communication with the ground was severed a little less than one hour into the flight on March 8 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Malaysian officials previously have said radar data suggest it may have turned back toward and crossed over the Malaysian peninsula after setting out on a north-eastern path toward the Chinese capital.

So why have they not / or will they at all / or when will 'they' state it was their action? I recall PAN-AM Lockerbie was state sponsored so never an announcement. Correct me if i am wrong.

The only problem with the shot down/hijack theories is that no one has claimed they did it.

Usually when something big like this happens all the radicals in the world surface to claim responsibility.

I can see a big shake up in the aviation industry. Surely they would have to have something that will show the location and relevant information to always transmit so this cant happen again.

Maybe they don't want anyone to know what they are doing with the plane yet?

Didn't some obscure Chinese group come out right at the beginning and say it was them? Same group that did the mass stabbings.

If highjacked by a larger criminal/terrorist organization somethings either gone wrong for them in the air (out of fuel, overpowered, crashed) or the plane is being kept for something more sinister. Or maybe the people on board.
As said above, these organizations love the propaganda of beating the system.

I'm surprised there isn't a redundancy system on board so that there's always a way the plane sends a signal that cannot be switched off or reached while in the air. Place it up in the rudder or wing where you cant get to in flight. Doesn't have to be the primary system. Just a backup for cases like this. Battery backed up so even in a power failure on board

What's to say MH370 was hijacked, landed in Turkistan or around there, the passengers removed from the aircraft and shot one by one......frightening, but no outside the realms of possibility if the a/c was hijacked.

Malaysian PM news conference says they are certain the plane was hijacked by persons as yet unknown. Based on its last know path and assuming it had sufficient fuel it could have been going to Sri Lanka, East coat of India or Bangladesh. My guess it is now at the bottom of the Bay of Bengal. Mystery gets more mysterious, the conspiracy people must be orgasming.

Unfortunately domestic terrorism is only gonna get worse in china due to there over zealous force and stupidity. I foresee china going the way of russia and slow splitting up into its post world war 2 states in the distant future.

Some interesting discussion on PPruNe. MAS would know how much fuel was put into MH370, IIRC the pilot has the say on fuelling quantity.
