It never fails to amaze me that developers and house owners can double there money and more on land developments and houses and have been ripping us off for years. Fuel companies, Gas and electricity companies rob us on essential services and goods. God forbid a business like a car dealer makes a little hay while the sun shines and they are the scum of the earth. Ford dealers have been doing it tuff for years to the point of shut down and bank rupcy. I have no problem at all with them price gouging, if you cant afford it than don't buy it. Nobody has the right to tell someone what to sell there products for and no car is that important that you have to buy it or else. As the old saying goes, it's worth what's someones prepared to pay and if that's not you than too bad.

you don't build brand loyalty by screwing your best customers (the early adopters) though
not only is it poor for customers, its poor for the business failing to recognise this is why they have "been doing it tough for years" |

Well HSV have been doing it for years. I beg to differ as to why they have been doing it tough. Not all Ford Dealers run in this price gouging fashion and they have been doing it tough. Poor model mix, poor product backing via warranty and lack of relevant models are what has caused the dealer network to suffer. Ford dealers were very profitable when there model mix was right which was until the end of the EL Falcon days when they still did 5000 Falcons per month. Nothing changed except there failure to adapt to Aussie cars buyers change in buying tastes. I must admit I don't agree with charging $80,000 for a $65,000 car but if they want to charge $67,000 for it than if you can't afford the $2,000 extra than you can't afford the car full stop. Customers arnt loyal these days and your kidding yourself if you believe this. Nobody will think twice about buying another brand if it's the IN Thing and ticks all there boxes. Why do people a favour when they will just go buy else where when it suits them anyway.

The sooner Ford sells direct to the customer and just appoints authorised service centers around the country from privately run shops held to higher standards of service the better. If Ford beefed up their technical support and training from the factory, they could make this work very successfully. The dealer model is well past its used by date. It can go on, but needs a major lift in quality and some real opportunity for competition. It certainly should not be the only way to buy a Ford car. Drove a 2.3 Convertible today, and quite impressed with the get up and go it's got.
The V8's going to be nice to try once the bosses arrives! Last edited by Craig@AUDI; 19-11-2016 at 03:29 PM. |

Not too impressed on the ragtop operation?
Get out of vehicle and take out plastic side panels? Come on it's 2016.. Not 90's Capri!

A US reviewer says...
I find that when compared to an older Mustang or even a classic, this new one just looks basic and cheap on the outside. It’s truly unbelievable that in a time where the Corvette gets a sharper, more aggressive, and unique design for a lower price, Ford proudly releases this. You may think it’s wrong for me to compare a USD25,000 Mustang to a USD60,000 Corvette, but really there are nice interiors you can get in a $25,000 car and the price of a Corvette goes into many more things than just the aesthetics. For $60K I'd rather buy one of these... Last edited by SYZ; 21-01-2016 at 06:25 PM. Reason: corrected IMG coding |

It wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me but I’d be disappointed it didn’t have a digital speedo as my old eyes really do find them to be one of the better inclusions in cars in recent years.
They’re not as cheap as I thought either as they must be pushing up around the 70k mark once on the road. Other than that the more I see them the more I like them. |

This 90's convertible roof design has pulled the pin for me.. I'm out!
It was to replace other halfs 370z.. And was really looking forward to our first Mustang! "The convertible roof is three-stage; you unlock it with a handle then operate the electric system to stow it or open it which requires the car to be almost stopped. There are two plastic trim pieces that have to be attached once the roof is down, and removed before it can be opened. This is a bit of a pain as you need to get out to do it, and there’s no handy place to store them when they are removed. There are many other convertibles that are easier to use, and Ford’s claim of seven seconds to operate is rather optimistic."

I frequently hear people discussing the various merits of a number of cars on their consideration list, and having to deal with Ford is right up there when it comes to a solid reason not to go with them. A lot more people would buy a Ford if they could buy it from Mazda or Toyota |

Looks like the demand vindicates Ford's US decision to shut down Norlane and Campbellfield.
The VPs at Ford's Detroit HQ must be back-slapping themselves senseless. |

Plastic covers in the boot? If other car makers could do it without them 10-15 years I would have thought that Ford would catch on by now.

So those infills are meant to be put back in place after either up or down operation. Can see most not bothering, so you'll end up with the 2 infills floating around in the boot, under the seat, or lost? (and a gaping hole each side)

Please don't think my having a dig at the ragtop version is a hate for the sake of hating whack at Mustang!
I love the bloody thing! Just a little peeved that it aint as "refined" as I was led to believe

What’s the sense of having an automated system that requires the driver to exit the vehicle as a part opening and closing the roof.
I understand you can raise and lower it without using them but if like me you’d prefer a neat finish you’d have the infills in place. Does that mean before I close the roof I have to park the car and remove them before I can start raising the roof?

Tony Abbot must have been in that design meeting and made a captains call regarding the in-fill panels. Probably choose not to mirror the console. I've said it before, i loved ford but jeez that always trip at the line.
