If any engine wear can be minimised by a fastidious owner, i'm all for it because i know (& many others do too) that kind of attention to detail is what separates the good cars from the really good cars.
I would expect owners to be fussy if they really loved their car, their pride & joy will show the tlc heaped on it, at sale time the car becomes that much easier to sell. So why not if it makes a difference, it does for me. cheers, Maka

I fill the filter mainly for lube. To moisten the seal that is.

I was asked today for advise.
workmate purchased an 18 month old low KM dealer demo as part of a 2 vehicle deal. It was serviced by the dealer prior to pick up with the 2nd years service stamped. It a fixed price deal and the second year includes all filters. other years included oil.

Since my Ford has a top mount cartridge filter it would get messy pre-filling. I just use some oil on the rubber seal and that's it.
