I have no idea about these product plans, but I have a feeling if they go with a 6 speeder across the range it will be the one offering, not both. I cant really see the marketing benefit of two different 6 speeds when all the consumer really notices is how many gears it has, I could be wrong but.

Really like the idea of an R-series, Ive always thought the XT name was really crappy, sounds like it should be a base model ute trim.

Not sure if they'll try and push an ultra efficient model when the Ecoboost is apparently only 12 months away?

They still don't have it right.

I am happy about some aspects as it supports what I have said from the start in that all engines are blown with three specifications.

What happens if you need to push the car and turn a corner (break down, etc)? Is there still any mechanical link in your Fiesta?

In fairness, on the V8 front FPV have never said when their product will be ready to go. Everyone just assumed that it would be the 1st of July. We had a wait for the auto Boss as well.

Some people didn’t or don’t believe there is a SC engine at all so this news should be a net gain for them.

Im surprised there wont be at least one naturally aspirated V8, I would of thought already having a turbo 6 meant they could appeal to wider range of buyers with a N/A performance alternative. Now it seems all performance engines will have forced induction.

Good question. I thought they would be all NA, but now I'd expect at least 1.

But having said that the XR8 sales are quite low.

Mmmmmmm.............

Maybe the XR8 WILL BE dropped and replaced by a GS ? Interesting to see....

The electric power steering set-up is essentially the same as the current except instead of the engine driving the power steering pump it's done via electric assistance meaning less drain on the engine. It's a set-up which has been used on plenty of cars over the last few years.

You'd have 2 engines with similar out put and fuel efficiency. V8 N/A and I6T. No point if you ask me. It's one or the other. Plus having the XR8 (and possibly G8E in the future) with the V8 SC spreads the development costs over more vehicles. Plus eliminates the extra development cost required for having a NA V8.

No, Ford builds the semi finished units for FPV but does 300 or 400 before July 1,
they have pre June 30 build plates and are progressively sent to FPV for fit out
up until about September, stuff like this isn't new to Ford....

We're only talking July and August at worst case, I've heard
there's a slight delay with the S/C V8, nothing major.
Wouldn't be surprised if it's a shortage of blocks and heads
given the +11,000 forward orders for Mustangs...

That won't happen...

They won't stockpile 400 FPV's without bumpers and steelwheels.

The numbers for the 5.4's are locked in. So any delay in the Coyote mean lost sales and lost production !

If you don't have the bits to keep building something you've told your suppliers you are finishing.... especially on long lead items, you're not going to be able to turn the switch and get those parts all of a sudden.

I'm betting the delay is insignificant. Otherwise this is serious....

Depending on this month's sales of V8 Falcons it may be academic....
January and February have netted 117 V8 FPV sales and 161 XR8s so what's that,
about 140 V8's a month.....
