the fact that 90% of those checked were overweight shows widespread non-conformance. It never mentions just how much overweight though does it? it could be 10kgs that gets written down to add to the statistics

If this had been policed for say, the past five years, a lot of this could have been avoided. What exactly could have been avoided?

What people don’t understand is catching people in remote situations means off loading
excess weight before continuing, what things do people need to leave behind?
Thinking when it’s grandma and grandpa by the side of the road, it must be distressing for them I have only ever seen trucks unloaded on the roadside, and only then when they were grossly overweight
But this thread isn't specifically about badly loaded Caravans so lets get back to Rangers shall we.

Which begs the question, is the problem/risk/danger as great as being made out?

They've done similar blitzes of mobile phone use in the past, and caught many thousands of drivers, yet phone use remain a tiny fraction of total serious crashes. Not saying we shouldnt discourage their use, but surely penalties or resourcing to dish out those penalties should be proportionate to the problem they cause?

People dont care even when you explain the legalities as Ive mentioned before.
We had many examples of people coming into the van sales yard and buying vans unsuitable for their tow rig but you cant tell them if they've got tbeir heart set on a particular combination.
Its even worse right now because vans are getting bigger and heavier and tow rigs are so expensive they buy the van and hope the existing rig will suffice.

Makes me wonder if more people should be considering moving up to an LR/MR truck to pull their van and chuck all their ****e in it.

Or maybe you need to forget about taking the kitchen sink with you when you go out on the road.

He’s got 16.8L of fun/100kms showing on the dash.

Hopefully he will post a YouTube video on it soon.

How can he have his already and I ordered mine in May and then ford have just pushed it out further to a 2023 feb build. Ford need to work on their order transparency.

Apparently when he put interest out there for one, a dealer principle who I assume ordered one, gave up his early build slot for him. No idea why the DP gave up that slot for him. Paul made it clear he wouldn’t pay above RRP for it.

Don’t think there was any relationship there. Paul put it on social media that he was interested and asked for dealers to reach out. It came from a dealer in Port Macquarie and Paul lives in Melbourne

Exactly.

I'm not really sure why Ford or a Ford dealership thinks getting one of these into this person's hands so quickly is a good move. The guy is a twat, a sensationalist mouthpiece that thinks he is more important than actually is.

Frankly, when he published the story below, and then reneged a short period later, his credibility went straight in the dust bin.

https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-rev...-r-spec-review

There are more trust worthy reviews and opinions out there on the Raptor.

I did however never agree with his mustang pieces

Thanks for explaining it mate. I realise I am no journo and they may want to prioritise the media comments from them. Unlike some, I will be using it for proper 4wding. taking to cape york, sand , mud , rocks etc. and no doubt some scratches. If it has good features , I will say so , if it has bad features , I will say so. ( I already don't like that the lockers are touch screen controlled only. The number of times I have had to quickly flick on the lockers in my current 4wd in some tricky 4wd via easy accessible rocker switches which take a second is so useful. A couple of diff lock buttons, out of the way near the shifter or drive controller would have been great . Just my preference.

But I would like more visibility into my order from Ford.
Should the dealer do better- yes of course. They rush to get deposit and signatures then go quiet for 6 months. then any issue , they just say hey it fords fault

A monthly update from ford isn't much to ask, it easy to even semi automate this via technology out of the CRM and inventory management system. Would force the dealer to be a bit more transparent as well...

I know they have been working on improving this. Putting steps in place to make sure customers are updated on their order.

It can be done but the thing to remember is that this is no Landcruiser and the limits on GVW Aand GCW are a lot lower /tighter for anyone planing an expedition that requires maximum loading..
Cruiser isn't all that much better and the fun starts with the new Everest being rated to 3500kg, so 350 towball. That leaves 391kgs for passengers, load. 7 seater at 60kgs a passenger is 420kgs with no luggage. So towing is out fully loaded. So many people are going to be over weight.

This thing appears to have some serious capability and looks to be built like a tank underneath, the rear axle has some significant reinforcement as do most other areas, should easily be as tough as a 300 series and able to go further with the twin lockers one would think. Just can’t carry or tow as much.
Am extremely tempted this time with the 300kw v6.

Best of luck with the new beast, what Color did u go for? Decal pack?

Saw one in real life at a Ford dealership today.
Had a sit in it & a play with the buttons.
Having second thoughts on getting one of these now.
For all the raves about the quality of the interior, I was not impressed at all.
I'll wait for a test drive before I make a decision......................

That seems to be normal for all spec levels of the next gen Ranger and Everest. Very cheap and hard plasticy look interior.

Then I think of what other 4x4 could I buy and there's a compromise on every single one.
I think I could live with the cheap look interior on a Ranger or Everest when it ticks pretty much every other box

Why is the Raptor putting out such low figures compared to at the flywheel compared to the two diesel variations tested?

Dyno figure seems fine to me for something running 33s, it performs well on the road though so wouldn't worry about the dyno.
