Thumbs up Well I'll be.....

I have a Colorado Red Fiesta LX auto for the day while my Focus is in for service, and I have to say, its very zippy, pretty happy to chirp off the line. Handling is nice as well. It doesn't feel as bulky as the Focus and it loves to rev, which for an auto is a bit of a let down, but the auto gears have good ratios.

I love the kick-down switch.

Though i have never driven a manual (im learning peoples), i find the auto very smooth and responsive compared to other autos ive driven. Definitly loves to rev and make a presence. Kick down is awesome to especially going down hills.

In heaps of autos, if you bring your foot right down the the bottom you can feel a bit of hesitation before it hits the floor. Thats the switch. it makes the auto select the lowest gear it can for the current speed, Ie if I'm doing 50 and the auto is in 3rd gear, and I hit the kickdown switch, it will go apes**t, drop into 1st, rev from 5000 to 6-something, and geep rev-lineing.

Other cars have a throttle prosition sensor and can see when the car is at 100% WOT (wide open throttle) and kickdown then.

Old cars with autos you'd have the punch the accelerator down twice and itll kickdown.

Thats a bit of a pain though isnt it, you have to jam the throttle all the way to the floor to make it kick down....

If your at a low speed/extra load's been placed on the engine though it may kick down at half throttle.

i know what you mean, as i started a similar thread a couple of weeks ago, for the last week i've been getting around in a RTV and its a great car, very tough and has plenty of go, but when i jumped back into my fiesta it feels like you have so much more feel in the steering and better control over the car.
