Re-enter radio security code capri 1990

Hi have a 1990 Capri and the mechanic removed the battery now I don't know how to re-enter secuirty code.....I tried and now I cant clear the radio display with the wrong secuirty ID. Any ideas.....don't tell me I have to remove the battery ;-)
