KA Laser

I have a cheap old 1.3L KA Laser.

On Friay night it was stolen. Although there was no major damage, the ignition was forced, and so I have acquired a new ignition switch to replace it. The problem is, the car will push start no worries, the battery is fully charged, yet when turned over via the key (or by the wiring "barrel" when removed from the barrel lock) Nothing happens at all. I can't even hear the solenoid engaging. The car was found abandoned and I assume the ignition was left on. I was wondering if it was more likely to be an issue with the solenoid, or the big resistor that leads to it?

Also, when I collected it from the Police compound, the brake light was on, and the resorvoir was low, so I filled it up and the brake light went off. However, now when the car is off the pedal is good and has good pedal pressure, but as soon as the engine is running I lose all pressure, and the pedal travels to the floor with hardly any braking force at all. I assume the problem is somewhere in the brake booster. Can any one shed any light onto why it sucked up all the brake fluid, and if I'm likely to be right about it being a problem with the booster?

Sounds like they gave the old girl a good flog.
Check the wiring from the ignition switch is all okay. They wouldn't have been gentle with any of it when they stole it, also check the soleniod wire is on at the starter motor. You can check the starter motor is working by bridging the solenoid wire to the large positive wire on the starter too.

If your fluid level has suddenly dropped, you have a leak somewhere probably. Jack it up and pull all the wheels off and inspect the brakes. Most likely source is the rear brake cylinders.
