Default gremlins in my wipers ?????

I've had my LS focus since June 07 but have only just noticed this in recent rain.

When I drive along with wipers on normal (ie continuous) setting and I come to a stop at lights etc, the wipers go into intermittant mode, then go back into normal mode when I go again.

If I put the wipers on when stopped they run in normal mode until I go then stop again and they revert back to intermittant mode as above.

Is this normal or is this a gremlin in my wipers??????

Yeah, theyve got some cool comfort features.... I like the blinkers where they flash for you a few times even though you only momentarily move them to indicate, handy when changing lanes.

i want one more flash.. i dont change lanes that fast!

the focus is a very well designed piece of kit, i've been so impressed with the level of thought that has gone into the design of almost every component. My only real complaint with the design? next time you're under your car, take a look at where the oil filter is, and tell me that's not a completely daft location.

Extremist pointed this wiper feature to me, it's only on LS series 2. (early-mid 2006 onwards) The only other changes that are noticable on the LS update were relocated airbag sensors.

I love the wipers, it puts a smile on my face every time it does that. I could be wrong but I have a feeling it puts the rear wipers on while you're reversing if you already have the front wipers on. Although, maybe I'm imagining that... I'll check in the morning.

Yep that's right when the front wipers are on and you put it in reverse the rear one comes on.
Haven't noticed the intermittent at the lights though.
These forums are a font of useful information and trivia.
I was bushwacked for a while wondering how I was turning on the air con when I moved the air direction to the windscreen. Thats automatic too.

Unfortunately I haven't worked out how to change the rear wiper blade without having to get a complete unit. The factory one (2007 model) smears and it is annoying at night when it is raining. Complained at the 3000 service and told it was dirt. I had polished the back window in case there had been stuff left on it causing the smears.

The blade is replacable. We had a crow peel ours in half one day while sitting on the rear wiper. Stupid bird. Ford replaced the blade at the 1500 service.
