Default Series 1 Clover Leaf Rims

Hi All,

I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a set of the series 1 16 inch clover leaf rims for my AU1 Futura.

Does anyone have them on a wagon? I think they'd look great, but I'd love to see them on a wagon if I could.

Unfortunately I'm not flash with photoshop so I can't rig up a pic of my own. Actually, what am I talking about? I don't even have photoshop! LOL!

As always, your help is appreciated.

I'll try tomorrow to post some pics of the car, dang it's so darn filthy. I've been caught out. The only pics I know of are those on Casper's car in his "casper's evolution" thread in the special section.

Thanks heaps for your offer!

I've got a few pics of my car with these style rims on. Just post up a pic of your car GK And I'll try to find something to match the angle. Full profile would be best I guess.

What colour wagon do you have GK?

I've got a set on a white AU1 futura wagon. If you want, I'll try and get a pic of it.

Burgandy. But the pic would be great to see in any colour.

What are they like to clean?

I don't mind them , i wouldn't really consider them a mag wheel at all , but they look ok in the way of the car looks clean with them (standard) , better than a set of dirty old matt black steel rim jobs like on some taxis ! ..lol

Casper , those top set of wheels , do they have a right and left hand set , or are all 4 rims exactelly the same (eg..the spoke pattern on the rim ends up facing the other way on the other side of the car) ? .. like in that pic - the spoke pattern from the cente outwards points towards the front of the car / forwards , same on the other side ? or reverse ?

top pic is GK's wagon.. I dont know how the rims work left to right but I would suspect they are all identical.

Yeah i sorta suspect that too , after just recentlly having a good look at the pattern on my AU XR II , the small flutes face the opposite way on the other side of the car ( all rims are identicle ) , call me picky - but it just gets to me as i had this years ago with a $1200 set of rims , 12 years back or so and $1200 wasn't cheap for rims !!!. Wasn't until i got them fitted - got it home and went to take some pictures - that i realised the flutes were facing foward on the opposite side of the car :( . They looked good from the 1 side of the car / with the flutes in the pattern to the rear , but didn't look to good with the flutes in the pattern facing the other way on the other side .

By the way .. Nice clean car GK , looks good .

The car is straight yes, but clean? Heck no! LOL! It was, and still is filthy!

As I downloaded the pic I took this morning, some startup program allowed me to alter the pic. Aaaaahhhh the deception of digital photography!

Thanks for the compliment though.

It's good to see them together like that. I wonder if I can put your wheels on my car somehow? Would Microsoft paint do it? I know I have that program at least!

Could you send me those pics back so I can try (I emphasise the word TRY)to play with them?

Those rims have the black plastic dust cover on the inside too don't they Casper? It's clear they were both designed by a Greek/Australian with a doilie knitting granny! LOL!

You could just drive the wagon over this weekend and we will put a couple on if you want. They are just sitting in the shed collecting cobwebs. 1 trolly jack, 1 wheel brace and 30 minutes and you'll see how they look. Easy.

I would get the 5 Spoke 16's instead that came out on the XR8s to start with and the later XR6's and XLS utes, they look great and are easy to keep clean.

Also think about getting some clear indicator lenses for the side and rear!

I'm quoting myself because I misread your post. I took "photochopped" for "photocopied" LOL!

In light of this, I'm figuring you can't tell me what they were like to clean! LOL!

I'll ask Casper!

They are not too bad to clean, no sharp edges or anything. Sponge is useless, get a mitt and then just rub your fingers on the inside of each of the openings and they clean up well.Bit fiddly and time consuming but I'd say a lot easier than the futura rims you have at the moment, they look like a nightmare to tidy up.

Casper , i drool everytime i see an AU XR in black paint ( i love black ..lol ) your car looks awesome , suits the AU XR really nice ! . I know a new paint job will be on the top of the agenda for my car before the end of this year, and black it will be. Just only really noticed over the last few months that the painjobs on these newer cars these days seems to be really thin , i allready have quite a few stone chips in the bonnet, and just also noticed what looks like tiny patches of rust breaking out under the paint - on the roof just above the front windscreen on either side / near the doors , really small patches , exactelly the same place both sides though .

I thought that the original Tickford 5 spoke rims were 17's?

I have already thought about that, just put the side ones on the Series 2 SR yesterday. Looks really good! What's the approx cost of the clear rear wagon lenses ala Series 2?

Might ring FTG again and try ebay as well.

They are quite fiddly, there are so many little slots to get into, I force the sponge though!

Sounds like a good idea, save all my amateur IT skills for another task! LOL! I'll see the end result then, and I can also wash one myself!

When on the weekend suits you? I've got a few things on, but I'll work around it if I can.
