Default 17inch territory interceptor

hey guys i just bought a el 5spd manual for my first car and i am looking to buy a set of 17inch interceptors (spare wheel from ford territory) from ford they quoted me 200 for 4 without tyres then i have to go buy the spaces $75 each to make them fit and tyres for them.

just wondering if anyone has pics of these wheels on a sedan or any other car? or any other idea's?

Won't fit. Sorry.

AU/BA/SX have different Offsets to the E-Series Falcons. I wouldn't touch spacers, as for starters, they are illegal. If I were you, I'd look into the 17inch XR8 rims from the EF/EL Series. Great looking Rim, and really suit the E Series Falcons.

Yeah i agree. Im not a fan of spacers at all. You are looking at spending over $1000 on stockies if you go for decent rubber. You can easily get a set of EF/EL 17" for less than that amount with decent tyres.

you can get the steel wheels modified to suit the E series
there are a few companies around that can do them for you.
they removed the center and reposition it
we had some 16" rims done a few years ago for a XF ute.

Has anyone got any actual examples of spacers failing? It seems to be the popular thing to bag them but I've seen a few cars with them and never heard of any problems.

What does the 17" EL XR series wheels look like? I don't think I have ever seen them, the only wheels on XR's I remember are the ones with the swooshy design, similar to the AU SPac wheels.

Does anyone have a pic to calm my curiosity?

Specers don't fail. They're just bits of metal. Studs can fail if subjected to constant abuse and added force is put on most steering components. Which you don't notice these days because everyone has power steering to hide it. But most importantly the wheel bearings will fail, and I hate changing wheel bearings.

So you agree that a properly engineered spacer with 100% surface contact and even distribution of clamping force is no more unsafe then a wheel designed with the same effective offset?

Peuty - that's them. I remember that I had the option of getting them on my EF XR6 back in 1995, however CityFord wanted to bundle them with an option pack. The one I picked up from Pickles only had the 15in (10 Spoke) wheels on them, which were standard on EFII XR6s. The ones I spoke of above are on the car below.

Thats what i was thinking. i've seen heeps of e series cars with au/ba rims and never heard of a complaint either.

Have you tried a wreckers. they might be able to do a better price.
If there the same as the territory spare then you would think they should eventually get a whole set just from spares when they dimantle the wrecks.
They would also have brand new tyres on them already!

IIRC the only EF/EL that had 17's was the GT (correct me if I'm wrong)

There were aftermarket 17'' rims the exact same as the pic above.
But yes as far as genuine ford rims the GT were the only ones in 17''

It has been a long day from my end. I must have had 15 Inch XR6 rims on my EF then. Sorry for the Bum Steer.

Looking thru data it appears that EF/EL did have 16" wheels. My wrong. What shouldve been posted was to try a 17" wheel in EF/EL offset.

i have had an adaptor fail. cracked first, and luckily i picked it up before it was a disaster, it was on the front at the time. this could have been faulty to start with but who knows???

i have also had 16" ba rims cut and reversed too. (saves using spacers?adaptors)

territory spares are pretty hard to come by for some reason, im trying the same thing now, having them cut too.
