Saw 91 ron at 99.9c at Shell Marsden (Logan) a day ago. That was with the 4c Coles discount. First time I have seen it that low anywhere in the Brisbane area. Not sure what Premium was going for but I'd guess around $1.15 - $1.20.

Make the best of it guys. Oil prices are low as is the Aussie dollar. If oil prices go up and the Aussie dollar doesn't ( a very likely scenario ) then we will all be bleeding. Funny thing I can remember that in the 1970s oil was allegedly running out and V8s couldn't be given away. Today we are told there is over supply! Manipulation is the name of the game and we are the suckers simply because we have no choice.

Out of the 5 servos here in Ulverstone, Tas, the one just around the corner from me here in West is the cheapest 91 unleaded in town @ $1.21.9 (Queen st west Ulv)

This servo recently changed hands & have consistently been at least 2 to 3 cents per litre cheaper than the rest.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but has anyone else noticed the price difference between std unleaded and premium since the price started falling? I've filled up at my reg servos over the last few weeks and noticed they are charging 1 to 2cpl more than usual eg: when it's was ( and will be again no doubt) dearer my local servos had a about a 16/17 cpl price difference, now it's about 18/19 cpl. This is from 3 different servos in different suburbs. I know they can basically get away with it as I checked with the toothless tiger that calls itself the ACCC but **** me! Surely there is something that can be done to stop this robbery.

Wasn't long ago they were only charging 10 cents a litre extra for 98, and 6 for 95. Didn't take them long to figure out they can screw motorists who choose premium. Last time I heard premium only costs 4 cents per litre extra to make over 91. Or was it 2?

16/17cpl is still a con. Fuel companies are trying to get people on 98 as it increases their profits. Unless your car actually needs it there isn't a point to putting it in your tank.

Agree totally but these days more and more jap cars require it,some subys for example and they know that so they do this. I filled up y day with premo ( mines not std) felt like abusing the console op but it's not their fault so I just grumbled and walked out. It will hit 20cpl soon gaurunteed if the price keeps falling.

There have been times where if i was feeling particularly big tight butt, i would do a mix ,
and by that i mean ........if i had 98 in the tank ...... when i got down to half i would just add 91, which seemed to work ok without any pinging, which is the norm on my old au xr running a full tank of 91,
my xr just doesnt like the cheap stuff,

this is not something i would do on a blown or turboed donk, but it does seem to work ok for my NA au.

and just on that note of octane mix....... i seem to remember many years ago............ some rare servos had a bowser that you could get a blend of different octanes....... anyone else ???

Just heard on t.v news update that new taxes are going to push alcohol and fuel prices up.

Petrol and diesel are going to go up about 18 cpl!

Yes they had this on a few bowsers with the twist dial number reset and handle that went horizontal after lifting the spout. That was back when the choice was standard or super, all leaded stuff.

May be wrong but the selector on the side of the bowser had 4 positions, std, 3/4 std-1/4 super, 1/2 n 1/2, 1/4 std-3/4 super and full super.
Showing my age here, $2 pocket money saved used to fill a 5 gal (20ltr) drum for the dirt bike, old Honda 90 before they were postie bikes. The postie used to ride a pushbike, big rear wheel and small front.

That would be the std excise rise every 6 months. Its not gonna be 18cpl. It will be 18c for a tank. If you smoke ciggies they're in a world of hurt.

I didn't hear it but wouldn't rule it out. Does anyone else remember the special 10c per litre excise that got implemented when fuel priced dived around the time of the gulf war, I think version 1. Fed gov at the time said it was a temporary measure as the massive drop was dangerous to the economy.

Then it would be somewhere on the News. They harped on about the SFA rise in the fuel excise for a week, a significant one would be front page news.
