Default Exhaust is getting louder

Do exhausts get louder over time?

I have a Herrod Motorsport 2 1/4" stainless catback on my LR Focus.

It is about 2 years old.

It is still quiet when running along, but when I put the power down, the exhaust note seems much louder. Is that normal (buildup in the exhaust?) or is something deteriorating??
