Tyres....

Im looking at some new tyres and mags as most of you know what happend

:

Anyway what do people think of

1) Sava tyres
2) Nan Kang (NS2) Tyres
3) Falcon Tyres
4) Fulda Tyres
5) Yokohama
6) Maxxis

By the way im wither getting 17" or 18" rims so the tyres will have to be ion that size!

Yokohama = very sticky, but soft. High rate of wear.

Save tyres? Eh?? Do you mean Sava? If so, they're alright, in 215/60 R15 form anyway, decent levels of adhesion, but nothing special. Had em on my VP commy.

Currently got Dunlop SP3000 235's on the AU. Fantastic

i had yokos on my old stocko ED... could get em to slip everywhere

got Fulda Exelero's on my car now and i am very happy with them...

The guy down at Bob Jane T-Marts said that Fulda are good! He has them on his ute! I don't mind the Rodnet Jane Racing series rims, are they any good?

I've got Sava Intensas on my 17s, and nankang NS2 on my 18s (on the XR8). Both are fairly good tyres in wet and dry - heaps better than RE92s, anyway.

Dunlop 3000's are a good 17 inch tyre. very good value for money and performance.

Yokohama 102's and 103's are the best tyre to get i believe. Over $400 are corner but the grip wet or dry is unbelievable. I got over 40000km out of the 102's in my T3.

Hey OZFORDAU, make sure u post what tyres u get and how their grip is, im also in the market for some new tyres. But i got 2 or 3 months before i need my new set, depending on how i drive :P

I have Maxxis MA-Z1 Victra 235/45/17 excellent wet tyre done 15,000 they don't even look half worn yet. I have tryed a lot of tyres and i reckon these are excellent tyres.

Hankook Ventus K102 or K104, and Kumho Ecsta 712s are both good, cheap (~$150 each) 17" tyres. The Savas got about 30000km out of them between Bucky and me, and they still have tread left. The Nankangs I have only had for 4 months, so hard to tell what treadwear is like, but grip is reassuring in all conditions so far.

Actually here's some info to think about. On the side of each tyre is a rating system for treadwear. 0-300. 0 is baby bottom soft, 300 is rock hard.

I have Dunlop SP200's on the SR with the rating of (200)

I have Dunlop SP3000's on the Futura (came with the rims I bought off Casper) rating of (240)

The tyres that came off the Futura Dunlop SP 300's (260).

Of these three tyres, the 3000s are easily the best and should wear really well (as evidenced by the rating of 240), in spite of being a performance tyre.

The 300's were next, good tyres and almost rock hard, wore really well.

The softest being the 200's are definately the worst, and also the softest. They squirm around and squeal around corners, i won't get them again. Actually I didn't, they came with on the SR.

I guess it depends on many factors, tread depth, sidewall stiffness, tread pattern etc.

I like the idea of going with a new set of SP 3000's on the SR next time around, 225/50/16.

Any tyre that people think are really good could they please tell me! Im roughly going to spend $1,500 and under on a 18" Wheel and tyre pakage so if anyone has seen or heard anything thats really good please let me know!

From experience ive had 2 sets of yokohamas and are too soft and are prone to wear down quickly through normal they make the ride feel really sloppy but comfortable. Bridgestones are also prone to wear quickly but perform well, Sava are cheap and nothing special, Nankang ive got on at the moment and feel safe and tight but the ride is a bit rough, my pick of all the tyries so far are Hankook's they are a nice all rounder. Im happy to get anywhere around 25-40k on a set, depending on how i drive them.

They were on the car when I bought it, so I couldnt tell ya how much they were, but as far as wear goes, they're going well, not wearing too quick, but definitely provide plenty of grip.

I ditched my Kuhmo Ecsta 712's because they wore badly and began producing a noise akin to a damaged diff. I've got Toyo Transpaths now, much quieter tyre, should last longer, and offer good wet grip. The guys at the Tyrepower have them on their Fords as well.

Well they dont look bad, but are VERY common. I see them everywhere on Falcons and Commodores.

I too have Dunlop SP3000 17/235's on the AUXR6. Done about 30,000, still plenty of meat left. Great grip. Just make sure you manage your tyres - rotate them and make sure the tyre pressures are right.

$175 fitted & balanced per tyre for nankangs ns2 245/35/18.There good value for money. Afterall there tyres arent they going to get ripped on the rear end. ;)

i'll suggest somethig OZFORD if your goig 18" most likely you will be getting 245's in my opinion 245 is a lot of rubber and they are going to grip, weather cheaper of dearer. just tell the tyre guy what you want a good wearing tyre. IMO anyways.

Kumho Ecsta. Don't know what series, but I've had mine on the ute for 35,000 clicks and they still have tread, loads of tread, have good traction in the wet too...

Was reasonably happy with my Nanking NS2's, not bad for a cheap tyre nothing special in the wet though..
Sava Intensa's NEVER again, they are the worst tyre Ive driven on. pathetic in the dry and worse in the wet.

Im up for some tyres at the moment, im going for a set of GT Radials again, you can drive just as hard in the wet as you do in the dry and they hang on. Best tyre ive driven on.
