Default Escort Gearboxes

Hello fellas ( and gals), was wondering if the 4 speed gearboxes off the kent/pinto motors are interchangeable, or if different bellhousings, gearbox mounts. etc are required?. Cheers.

Burton Power have a real good site with lots of technical info as well as parts.

http://www.burtonpower.com/

Type 2 (kent Escort) is interchangable with the Type E (kent Cortina) but the shifter location is slightly different so needs a mod to the tunnel. Thats what I have in my Mk1

Type 2 has a cast bellhousing so a Kent one probably won't fit onto a Pinto. the usual mod is a 5 speed type 9 that has a separate bell housing
