Default New Hudson Autocycle

Sat down with dad last night and he bugged me about searching the net for these things, apparently villiers, malvern star, new hudson, etc all made these things in the 1940s and 50s. Dad was like a kid when i showed him some of the pics. Anyway, he had 3 when he was a kid and i'm trying to find him one, have searched high and low but no luck, does anyone have any leads on one of these things??

Heres a link to some pics

Love a good thread mine, particulalry one where I simply talk to myself, just thought i'd bookend this thread the same as the Anglia 105e thread (another long term search). Found this Sun Autocycle in Melbourne, 14 hours driving to get it home, not running for 35 years, drained the fuel tank, fresh 2 stroke, it lives!! I cleaned up the basics on it and met dad for the handover. Happy man.

He's worked hard all his life, and in semi retirement just wanted some of the simple things in life that he loved so much when he was younger. The Autocycle was definitely a bit trickier to sort because he really wanted an original style, no frills, not too shiny, etc. This one fit the bill and he loves just tinkering with it. The Anglia 105e was easier, still took a few years to find the right one for his but you'd think he'd won lotto the day he got it. For all the cars he's owned over the years this one is by far his favourite.

Great work the autocycle is a gem, I'd have jumped on that...
My old boy had an Anglia too, one of my first car memories was Dad winding it out with me in the back seat yelling 'faster! faster!' Felt like we were flying but in reality we were going downhill with a tailwind

I know, i took it out for a spin and laughed so much with dad afterwards about the "Minimalism" of the car, i spent a fair chunk in putting in a period radio just so he had something to listen to rather than the engine screaming its head off. The Autocycle is pure plain jane but a great bit of gear, pedal for a bit, drop the clutch and away you go!
