Default Carrying a Bike

G Day all,

I've got a couple of mountain bikes i need to carry on the fiesta. I've looked at the roof racks with a bike mount attachment and am wanting to avoid that if possible. Recently i saw these bike holders made by a company called 'Saris'. It sort of leans on the back window and boot. They are designed to be a universal fit but i'm just if anyone has had experience with these on their fiesta or any other bike carriers.

Cheers

they'd probably scratch the car...
IMO, get a towbar fitted and just use a rack on that, especially if you'll be carrying the bikes on it a fair bit.

you can get the bike racks that fold rearward so you can still access the rear of the car

You might also want to check out THULE racks. Swedish manufacturer but they are one of the best around.

I've got a Thule ClipOn 9103 rack. Holds 3 bikes, quite high up too, so they won't drag on the ground. Clips on solidly top & bottom in seconds. Folds up flat... ish to store in the boot. It doesn't use straps, which can slip. Very solid, just like a Volvo. Probably the best you can get, & for $200 it should be. Probably cheaper than getting a towbar though. The top bar goes right at the top of the window, so you can still use the wiper.
To stop scratches, I've put some clear protection film anywhere it touches the hatch.
I'll take some pics tomorrow if you want.
