Default Concert in Melbourne, going to Rod Laver. Where to stay?

Hi all

Coming down for the Nickelback concert in November which is @ Rod Laver Arena, after some recommendations on a good hotel which is close by (ideally walking distance?) Will need good secure parking too.

Any ideas?

Hotel Windsor
Medina appartment, Flinders Street
Grand Hyatt
Stanford Plaza
Rydges on Swanson
Mantra 100 on exhibition

Lots there on that side of town, Good to stay in the CBD side
at least if the missus wants to go shopping, or eating all good
only like a 20 min walk
1000's of people walk back to the city after the concerts

I stayed at the Novotel in Collins Street on Saturday night. It was pretty good. Rooms might be a bit more than $200 - I got a discount. They have valet parking ($35) and the buffet breakfast was fantastic.

Should be able to get a room for that at the new Northbank Hilton. Best bet is to book as late as you feel comfortable with and see what you can get as a last minute bargain. Looking at a map anything from Elizabeth Street back towards Etihad is within walking distance, or you could always just jump on a tram.

He said concert is at Rod Laver, not ETIHAD
So best from Swanson towards spring street
Still a good walking distance

I realised that about 22 minutes after I posted it lol.

There's a nice place near Jolimont train station overlooking the MCG on Flinders St that would be a good bet, for the life of me I can't remeber the name.

That would be Hilton on the Park and yeah they will charge you plenty, have you thought of somewhere just out of the city then parking at the MCG for the concert, 5 min walk from the g to Rod Laver

I highly recommend Quay West at Southbank. Beautiful rooms, close to Rod Laver, secure parking.

We stayed at the Melbourne short stay apartments the other week. It was on city st/rd? southbank and we could see the crown and the Eureka tower from our Balcony. We were paying about 320 a night but I'm pretty sure they've got cheaper ones.

Family rates, but probably still expensive none the less. But we're coming down from the country, so why not get something nice, and close to the CBD.
