What's it worth to get someone to separate the gearbox from your motor, which will mean pulling the driveshaft, too, undoing all the linkages and connections to your gearstick..

It's something that I'd do, but only if I was scraping for money... For this price you're saving yourself a lot of ...ache (both heart and body)!

it takes 3 hrs to install the clutch and flywheel so he is charging you $116phr
even if it take 5 hr to fit he is still charging you $70phr. they should not be charging any more then $60phr and if it take him any longer then 4 hours to install the kit then he is a completly incompentant retard of a machanic. So at 4hrs at $60phr = $240 And that's a fair price.

when geting Quotes always ask them for there hourly rate and how long it will take to do the job. But never ask those 2 questions in the same sentance, have a bit of chit chat inbetween. they will cotton onto you otherwize...

Absolutely right. Alot of people seem to just accept whatever price their mechanic charges them without even looking at what they're paying for. If you have a hoist and a gearbox jack, a clutch job is not a major job and half a day is all it should take. $350 to pull the gearbox, bold up a new clutch and bolt the gearbox back on is ludicrous.

Just had the clutch done in my AU1 XR8 - total labour was $243.20, which included instalation of the clutch kit, machining of the flywheel and replacement of the rear gearbox seal.

Don't know how this relates to the BA's though....
