I was in a dealer on Saturday talking about a few vehicles (fitting the kids in them!) when i asked about the gearbox in the diesel wagon they mentioned it was now a conventional torque converter auto rather than dual clutch, now i dont know if that is the case as i havnt seen info, but i have seen a couple of cars being advertised as MY17.5 and i dont know if there has been a change? Anyone know?
I really want a ecoboost trend wagon.... guess thats a pipedream... haha |

Car Sales still list them (MY17.5) as a 6 speed Sports Automatic Dual Clutch. They get their info from Redbook.

The diesels have the dual clutch. Get the trend diesel wagon you wont be disappointed the ecoboost is a bit quicker but you can flog the diesel all day and still get high 6 litres per 100kms, drive a ecoboost like that and you will be in the 10-11 litres per 100. Never thought I would say it but the diesel is the way to go.

Thanks guys. I dont mind the dual clutch, but would really like an ecoboost for smooth/quietness our current my14 pajero and my old VW jetta were both noisy!!!...... im in a unique position where my mrs is going for a new job, and ive sold my car already......so if she gets the job it comes with a company car (small) and i get a ranger/everest or if she doesnt get it, i will get a mondeo hahaha. Cant wait to find out so i can order something!!!

I find it really quiet from inside the car. My diesel is incredibly smooth. As I said I never thought I would say it. I also have a 2011 G6ET and I find the MD smoother and quieter. I know people say the ecoboost is quicker but the difference is minimal in my opinion its not like the diesel to my G6ET know that you really notice.

Yeah, diesel Mondeos are fitted with a DPF. The regen process is handled invisibly (or tries to be) with the driver having little control and receiving no direct feedback of when it's occurring. How did you know when a burn off was and was not occurring in the Jetta?

I can tell because the radiator fan comes on. But they don't happen often, even during city driving.

Does anyone know how often the Mondeo does a burn? I have done 40,000 km in the last 12 months and have never noticed it once.
I recently brought a 200 series Land Cruiser and it has a basic gauge on the odometer and it seems to burn about every 80km or so.

The Mondeo diesel uses a Peugeot engine, which seems to be have one of the better DPF systems. The only thing I notice is sometimes a DPF cycle starts during city driving, which isn't ideal when you stop and turn the engine off. But then it has no way of knowing what your going to do!

Well. The gearbox feela smoother than my VW dsg. I finally got to drive titanium wagon today. Its far smoother/quieter than i was anticipating.... now to work out which to order.

Well. I should be receiving this week a 2017 build Trend wagon. Couldn't justify the extra expense of the Titanium even though some of the tricks are great! Its an MY17... i originally ordered a MY17.5 but they told me they wouldn't arrive until September. So they were able to find an MY17. Only real difference is the wheels. Much prefer the 17" wheels on appearance even though they will be a bugger to clean! Cant wait to get it. Have been driving my old mans LZ Focus and it really likes a drink.
