Hi all, I'm looking at buying a medium size car and I think the new shape Mondeo is a great looking car, I have even found a few 2007 models that fit my price range. But my worry is that word has it there was a large bunch of 2007's models that Ford HQ brought in for testing before they decided to sell them. So you would have to think that these might have had the life pushed out of them from there testing days back at Ford HQ.
Does anyone know anything about this story? Or any thoughts on how Fords medium car stacks up to the others (most of the others are for a lost less money too!) Plus, word is they are really really under powered when compared to a Mazda 6. All thoughts welcome. Francis. |

I'd go mazda 6 if it's in your price range. Absolutly beautiful car.!

Can't recommend a Mondeo highly enough... I am yet to take someone for drive that doesn't like it. Though I did test drive a petrol Zetec before I bought the TDCI and found it lacking a bit of grunt.

Thanks for that, thats really good to know. I would like a TDCI but they are all a bit to much. I was hoping to spend no more then $25,000.

Engineering evaluation vehicles would be easy to spot due to their registration dates. They would have been registered months before they officially went on sale, if they were even on sold to the public and not sent back to Europe.
As said earlier the first owner would have been Ford, and will be stamped in the owners manual. |

I really am really not sure what mid size is these days...even a new corolla sedan seems as big as a camry was less than ten years ago...for my money I would go a Accord Euro a few years old...2.4 140kw ...with good handling...and to me is a mid sizer

imo any car greater than 1500kg is not a mid sized car!

I would say Mazda 6 but even a Mazda 3 is getting to be mid sized these days.

I would personally by a Mondeo, but that's purely because im a Ford fan through and through. However, recently read an article in wheel's magazine where the mazda 6 and the Accord outclassed the Mondeo in Economy and power, i was a little disapointed, but the Mondeo is the better designed of the 3 both exterior and interior

Gents, this IS a Fordforums, so I'm going to higly recommend a Mondeo.
Not so sure about the story of models being brought in and evaluated. If they were, you're talking 2 or 3 cars max trust me, they don't evaluate more than 2 or 3 at a time. I'd be strongly recommending finding a Mondeo Zetec and running it on 98 RON and you'll love it to death.
